What's new in Medley?

I've all the juicy "deets" for anyone who wants to know!

Framed by cargo, concrete, and the constant hum of hustle, this bustling hub's skyline has more cranes than condos; its streets brimming with warehouses, not white picket fences.

So, there's probably nothing to look forward to, right?

Hold that thought—Miami's industrial stronghold is rewriting its own narrative, and it's asking you to be all eyes and ears!

We're talking about international seafood giants that are setting up shop, food-processing mega facilities that are moving in, and a future lakeside park that's quietly staking out its spot—but that's not even half of it!

Medley's pulse is shifting, and there's more going on than meets the steel-framed eye.

Here are 4 things new to watch for in Medley.

Big Moves, Bigger Warehouses—Medley's 2025 Business Boom

Where: Medley

When: Spring–Fall 2025

Thanks to the new businesses rolling into Medley this year, this industrial enclave won't be known for just its forklifts and freight!

In fact, it's transforming into a FRESH capital with a whole lot of seafood and concrete!

Let's start with AquaChile, the Chilean seafood giant that officially made Medley its U.S. home in early 2025.

Their new facility, complete with offices, chilled storage, and processing space, brought over 80 jobs to the area and now serves as a fresh fish relay between PortMiami and your nearest ceviche bowl.

Just a few blocks over, Garland Food signed a 15-year lease on a 175,000-square-foot warehouse, where $15 million in upgrades are already underway.

Think massive food processing operations, a late 2025 launch, and probably more jalapeño slicing machines than you'd believe—the excitement and anticipation are highly warranted!

Also making headlines is Seagis Property Group's new multi-building industrial park that broke ground in March, adding even more warehouse space to Medley's packed industrial zone.

And if you're wondering who's buying all this real estate, Simi Capital just dropped $31 million on an 80,000-square-foot warehouse in the industrial park, betting big on Medley's staying power.

Warehouses aren't sexy, but they're serious business that has activated Medley's main character in 2025.

Medley Levels Up on Paving, Parks, and Passive Progress—And We're All For It!

Where: Medley

When: Spring–Summer 2025 and ongoing

If you blinked, you might've missed it — Medley's making quiet upgrades that are about to pay off LOUDLY!

Thanks to Florida's 2025–26 budget, the town secured $700,000 for drainage upgrades along NW 96th Street, finally addressing a long-standing flooding issue.

You know, the one that turned commutes into canoe rides every time it rained? Yeah, that one.

Then, down the road (or shoreline, really), another $700,000 is going toward the new Medley Lakeside Community Passive Park, a lakeside retreat in the works on freshly annexed land.

It'll be a nature-forward space designed to preserve local wetlands while giving residents a spot to breathe, picnic, or pretend they're in a nature documentary.

Meanwhile, the Medley Town Council rolled out a Home Repair Grant Program this June for residents of the town-owned Medley Lakeside Retirement Park.

Also on the docket is Medley's red-light camera enforcement at select intersections to help tame the wild west that is local traffic.

So, if you've been testing your luck at yellow lights, consider this your polite heads-up.

New Leash, New Lease—A Doggone Good Swap!

Where: Medley (and South Dade)

When: July 2025–2026

After years of overcrowding and headlines no one wants to read, Medley's animal shelter (7401 NW 74th St.) is getting the second chance it deserves — and so is the land it sits on.

In July 2025, Miami-Dade County approved an $11.5 million plan to build a brand-new shelter in South Dade, one that'll feature more space, better ventilation, air-conditioning (finally), and room to breathe for both dogs and staff.

Once it opens in 2026, the existing Medley shelter will shut down, but not for long.

Thanks to a land-swap deal that's more creative than most HGTV episodes, the site will be reborn as a 100+ unit affordable housing complex in Medley.

County officials are calling it a "win-win," and for once, it truly is — shelter animals get a better home, and so do future residents.

If only every swap worked out this well.

Escape, Snack, and Spruce It Up—New Reasons to Linger at CityPlace Doral

Where: CityPlace Doral (8300 NW 36th St, Doral, FL 33166)

When: Early 2025

If you haven't checked out CityPlace Doral lately, your weekend plans may need a refresh as the lineup just became more interesting!

Early this year, new arrivals have knocked on its doors, including Escapology, where you and your friends can willingly get locked in a room and test your collective genius under time pressure (no pressure).

Then there's OAKBERRY, fueling Doral's health crowd with layered açaí bowls that are much like edible Instaworthy photos.

And if your living room needs some love, Petricor has stepped in with enough chic home fragrances and décor to turn your place into a Pinterest mood board.

These new additions round out an already-stacked mix of eats, drinks, and things to do in CityPlace Doral, ensuring that your shopping days around Medley feel like a mini adventure!
