Amid Miami's expanding suburbs and ever-busy corridors, Richmond West remains a pocket of community pride and everyday convenience; a charming neighborhood that still feels like home even as the world around it keeps moving.
Lately, though, this once-sleepy corner has been showing off a little more spark.
More homes are rising on its tree-lined streets, long-awaited projects are finally getting traction, and big ideas are shaping what the future of Southwest Miami will look like.
Indeed, Richmond West is stepping out from the shadows of its famous neighbors — and making it known that this tiny suburb is ready for something big.

Suburban Style Gets a Fresh Address in Richmond West
Where: SW 149th Ave between SW 160th and 164th Streets
When: Construction ongoing through 2025
Richmond West is welcoming a new chapter in its housing scene with Salerno, Lennar Corporation's newest single-family development, taking shape along SW 149th Avenue.
Designed by PPK Architecture, this 83-home community is redefining suburban living with sleek facades, open-concept layouts, and three- to five-bedroom options built for modern families.
Homes are expected to start in the mid-$700,000s, positioning Salerno as a strong contender for move-up buyers who want comfort, convenience, and space within minutes of shopping centers, parks, and schools.
Construction is in full swing, and several model homes are already drawing interest from locals and new buyers eyeing southwest Miami.
With the neighborhood's steady growth and proximity to major routes, Salerno only expands the appeal of Richmond West's evolving suburban story even more!

A Long-Promised Parkway Finally Picks Up Speed
Where: West of Richmond West, along the SR-836 Southwest Extension corridor
When: Geotechnical studies resumed in 2025
It's been the talk of South Dade for over a decade, and now the Kendall Parkway might finally become more than a plan on paper.
Yes, you're not dreaming—the long-awaited 13-mile expressway, also known as the SR-836 Southwest Extension, was officially added to Miami-Dade's 2026–2030 transportation plan this year.
Running just west of Richmond West, the proposed route aims to relieve congestion on Kendall Drive and SW 152nd Street, two of the most heavily trafficked east-west arteries in the county.
With geotechnical and environmental studies back in motion, optimism is cautiously rising among commuters who spend too much of their mornings idling in gridlock.
While funding approvals are still pending, this revival marks the most meaningful progress the project has seen in years.
If it gets the go-ahead, the Kendall Parkway could become a long-overdue solution — and a game-changer for Richmond West's daily drive.

Breaking News: A $2-Billion “Mini-City” May Be Sprouting Next Door!
Where: West of Richmond West, near SW 167th Ave and SW 184th St
When: Proposed October 2025 (under county review)
There's a massive new neighbor on the horizon — and it could change everything west of Richmond West.
Developers Lennar and The Easton Group have proposed City Park at West Kendall, a $2B master-planned "15-minute city" spanning 990 acres just outside the Urban Development Boundary.
The ambitious plan will offer 7,800 homes, a walkable commercial core brimming with retail and offices, and over 250 acres of parks, trails, and lakes, all designed to let residents live, work, and play within minutes.
It also includes more than 1,000 workforce housing units for teachers, first responders, and healthcare workers — a much-needed dose of affordability in South Florida's rising market.
The proposal is still under review by Miami-Dade County, but if approved, it would push the city's suburban frontier westward and create a new hub for growth.
For Richmond West residents, that could mean a wave of future retail, dining, and infrastructure upgrades right next door.
And, really, who could resist?
