Ease into island life with breezy views, upscale comfort, and a sprinkle of everyday magic as you settle into Williams Island, an exclusive 84-acre paradise in the heart of Aventura.

Wrapped by the Intracoastal and dotted with luxury towers, boat slips, and palm-lined streets, this sprawling gated enclave sits just south of Sunny Isles and moments from what Aventura has to offer.

Here, you get the best of both worlds — the quiet rhythm of resort-style living and the convenience of being minutes from shopping, dining, beaches, and everything you love about sunny Miami.

The community itself feels like a self-contained resort, with friendly faces, top-notch amenities, and real estate that blends high-end finishes with a laid-back, marina-side lifestyle that doesn't need to try too hard.

But before you kick off this new chapter (and possibly your shoes), let's walk through these easy but essential steps to help make your move to Williams Island feel as smooth as a Sunday by the water.

Here are 7 things you need to do IMMEDIATELY when moving to Williams Island.

(1)

Plugged In and Ready: Powering Up Your New Life on Williams Island

Before you pop the champagne or start rearranging throw pillows, ensure your new Williams Island home is ready to light up — literally.

Utilities are the unsung heroes of a smooth move-in, so early planning goes a long way.

To avoid last-minute scrambles or inconvenient service delays, take a moment to review what you need to set up electric, gas, and water before your keys are in hand.

Start by heading to Florida Power & Light (FPL) online to transfer service or create a new account in just a few clicks.

New customers must have identification (Social Security or Tax ID works), their future address, and the date they want power connected.

If you're switching from another home, be ready to share your move-out date and former address.

Also, you may have to pay a modest deposit, usually starting at $25, and any one-time activation fees.

If your new home includes natural gas service (not all buildings on Williams Island do), check with your building management first, then apply online through TECO Peoples Gas (TPG).

Once you've confirmed availability, submit a valid ID, your service start date, and your new address.

If transferring services, you need your former address and move-out date.

Deposits are usually based on your unit's square footage, and you may have to pay a cash deposit equivalent to twice the average monthly bill and a one-time connection fee.

To complete your essential trio, check your address on the Miami-Dade Water & Sewer site to confirm availability.

If you're a new customer, you must create an online account and expect a $50 deposit each for water and sewer, plus a $45 one-time connection fee.

Meanwhile, if you already have an account, ensure your balance is zero before transferring to your new address.

No Signal, No Chill: Lock In Your Cable and Wi-Fi Before Move-In

Nothing throws off your move-in groove like spotty Wi-Fi or missing the finale of your favorite show.

So, if you're relocating to Williams Island, getting your cable and internet squared away ahead of time will save you tons of hassle.

Start by browsing available plans from Comcast Xfinity and AT&T, and apply online or swing by a local storefront with your new address and ID ready to go.

Already a customer? Good news — you can transfer your service by paying any outstanding balance, calling your provider, and requesting the service transfer to your new island address.

Note that deposits, setup fees, or equipment rentals may apply at installation or be added to your first bill, depending on your provider.

From Mainland to Marina: It's Time Your License Moved, Too

If your closets are unpacked, your views are unreal, and all that's missing is an ID that matches the postcode of your new waterfront paradise, it's time to make it official.

DMV official, that is.

If you're moving in from another state or country, Florida gives you 30 days to make the switch and get that driver's license so you can cruise around Miami (or valet in style) with zero red tape.

Your next stop? The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DHSMV) or any local office offering a driver's license to submit your application and everything else you need based on your residency status:

Expect a $48 fee for a standard Class E license, $75 if you're applying for a commercial license, and $25 if you want a Florida ID card instead.

For the full fee breakdown, click here.

If you're exchanging an out-of-state or foreign license, you'll likely skip the written exam and driving test, but be ready for a quick check on your vision and hearing before you get that Florida seal of approval.

Already have a Florida license? Update your address with the DMV so your ID reflects your new island home.

And once you've officially moved in, don't forget that you have 10 days to insure, title, and register your vehicle in Florida.

After all that, you're ready to swap morning commutes for breezy causeway drives and sunset marina strolls!

Making Waves at the Polls: Registering to Vote from Williams Island

Ocean breezes, private marinas and pristine amenities are great, but making your voice heard? That's next-level luxury.

From city council to presidential elections, your vote helps shape the future beyond your waterfront view.

If you're 18 or older, a U.S. citizen, and still unregistered, it's time to get that sorted — and it's easier than you think.

You can register through the Florida Department of State or Miami-Dade County Elections Department online, by mail, or in person at any of their official locations with a valid photo ID with a signature handy, like a Florida driver's license or U.S. passport, and you're on your way.

Trash Talk (The Classy Kind): Waste & Recycling on Williams Island

Gated entrances, glistening driveways, and waterfront views come with one unspoken rule: keep them clean.

On Williams Island, curbside elegance isn't just a vibe but an expectation.

And while waste collection might not be the flashiest part of your new routine, staying in line with the island's guidelines keeps your surroundings — and your reputation — in pristine shape.

Williams Island is under the City of Aventura's Public Works Department, with services carried out by the City of Miami Solid Waste Department

Here's what to expect:

  • Residential Garbage Collection – Twice per week
  • Recycling Pickup – Every other week
  • Bulky Trash Collection – Once per week

Dumping items outside designated areas, especially in public spaces, vacant lots, or storm drains, will incur a $500 fine or worse.

To keep our waterways and walkways as polished as our patios, avoid improper disposal and be mindful of updates directly through your property manager or HOA, or visit the official City of Aventura Public Works page.

Beyond the Yacht Club: Williams Island's Day-Off Itinerary

Yes, Williams Island has it all — marina views, spa days, and serenity that makes you forget you ever owned an alarm clock.

But when you're ready to swap the robe for real clothes and actually leave the island, it gets even better.

In one direction, you have Aventura Mall, where the fashion is high-end, the restaurants are buzz-worthy, and the AC is always strong.

On the other, you have Tidal Cove Water Park — a famous destination for rivers, wild slides, and exciting water adventures that are as fun for adults as it is for kids.

Need a staycation with zero guilt? Book a day at the JW Marriott Miami Turnberry Resort & Spa, and let someone else bring you the champagne for a change.

Living on Williams Island means your biggest weekend dilemma is which kind of luxury you're in the mood for and how long you want to be gone before retreating to your island bubble.
