(1)

Getting Settled in Tara: Powering Up Your Slice of the Suburbs

Start your move to your new Tara home with your home essentials!

The good news is that getting your utilities up and running — electricity, water, and gas — will be easy, so you can spend less time worrying about connections and more time enjoying your new home.

Start by setting up your electricity through Florida Power & Light Company (FPL)

If you're a new customer, hop online to create an account and provide details like your Social Security number, Driver's License, Tax ID, or Social Insurance number, alongside your new address and connection date.

Those already with FPL only need to update the disconnection and reconnection dates and the new address.

Side Note: Prepare for a $25 deposit (minimum) and potential setup fees — it's a tiny price for lighting up your cozy evenings.

If your new Tara home uses natural gas, contact Florida City Gas (FCG) to confirm service availability.

New customers must provide identification and their preferred connection date while existing customers can schedule an easy transfer by sharing their disconnection and reconnection details.

Deposits typically depend on your home's size or twice the average monthly bill, and a connection fee may also apply.

Finally, it's time to get the water running.

The  Miami-Dade Water & Sewer website makes checking service availability and setting up your account a tap away.

New customers must pay a $50 deposit (each) for water and sewer, including a $45 non-refundable connection fee.

Meanwhile, existing customers must clear any outstanding balances before transferring service.

With these tasks checked off your list, your new home in Tara is ready to shine!

Setting up utilities may not be glamorous, but once it's ticked off, you can relax and start soaking up all that boutique charm!

Streaming, Surfing, and Binge-Watching: Your Tara Tech Setup Simplified

Living in Tara means enjoying the charm of a gated boutique lifestyle in the 'burbs without sacrificing the perks of modern connectivity.

In today's tech-driven world, staying connected is as essential as electricity — whether streaming your favorite show or catching up with friends during a virtual coffee date.

To keep your Tara home online and entertainment-ready, consider reliable providers like  Comcast Xfinity and AT&T, known for high-speed internet and premium cable packages — once you've picked your provider, you can apply for a new service online or visit the nearest store.

New customers will need to provide their complete address and valid IDs while existing customers can request a seamless service transfer — make sure your account balance is clear before making the switch.

Be proactive and ask about deposits, activation or installation fees, and any equipment rental costs upfront.

It's always better to know what to expect rather than finding surprise charges on your first bill.

With your internet and cable setup handled, you'll be ready to work, stream, and binge to your heart's content — all from the comfort of your new Tara home.

Arrive, Drive, and Thrive: Why a Florida Driver's License is a Must

Moving to Tara Kendall is your cue to get your Florida driver's license — if you don't already have one, that is!

Aside from being a requirement within 30 days of establishing residency, that shiny new Florida ID in your wallet is your official green light to cruise down Florida's scenic roads, especially if you're crossing state lines or coming from across the globe!

To get started, visit the nearest Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DHSMV) or any local office offering driver's license services and submit the necessary documents.

Click on the applicable residency status to know which documents to have on hand when you apply:

The initial Florida Class E license, including a learner's permit, is $48.00, a commercial driver's license (Class A) is $75.00, and an ID Card fee is $25.00.

For a complete list of driver's license fees, click here.

Have one from another state or country? You might be able to skip the Drug and Alcohol courses, Class E Knowledge exam, and Florida Driving test, but you're not completely off the hook as the Vision and hearing tests are mandatory.

And don't forget: once you've landed in Florida, you must title and register your vehicle(s) within 10 days of becoming a resident, which requires proof of insurance.

Already rocking a Florida driver's license? Notify the DMV of your new address to keep everything up-to-date.

With these steps sorted, you'll be road-ready and set to enjoy everything Tara — and the Sunshine State — has to offer!

Ballots and Beginnings: Starting Your Civic Journey in Tara

Becoming part of a thriving community involves finding ways to make a difference, starting with getting your voter registration sorted!

If you're already registered, kudos for being an engaged citizen!

But if you're moving to Tara as an unregistered voter, it's time to change that status — registering to vote isn't just a box to check but your gateway to being part of the decisions that shape your new neighborhood, county, and the entire country.

For U.S. citizens over 18 who meet the voter eligibility requirements, apply with the proper documents at the Florida Department of State or the Miami-Dade County Elections Department — you can apply online, by mail, or in person at the Elections Department or any branch office.

Don't forget to bring valid photo identification with a signature, like a Florida Driver's License or U.S. passport, to get approved without a hitch.

Tara's Trash Code: Keep It Clean or Pay the Green

One of the many things that make Tara special is its commitment to keeping the community clean and green.

As a new member of this boutique neighborhood, you'll quickly notice the residents' pride in maintaining a sustainable and pristine environment, which is a significant part of Tara's charm.

But here's a good news for you! Joining in on these efforts is simple!

All you need to do is support the Miami-Dade Solid Waste Department by following established recycling and waste management guidelines, an easy way to do your role while embracing the community's values.

Here's the lowdown:

  • Garbage and Trash Collection: Twice a week.
  • Recycling Collection: Every other week.
  • "Bulky" Trash Collection: Once a week.

Pro tip: Stick to the schedule and rules because non-compliance can result in fines up to $500 — or worse, legal trouble. Yikes!

Need help figuring out your exact collection days or fees? Check with your HOA or visit the City of Miami Solid Waste Department website for all the details.

In Tara, living sustainably isn't just encouraged but celebrated.

So, sort your recyclables, set your reminders, and take pride in keeping Tara as beautiful as the day you arrived.
