Celebrate rich culture, Mother Nature's charm, and diversity upon joining the tightly-knit community of Tamiami, an unassuming residential paradise combining the best of suburban living with urban convenience!
Tread the western outskirts of the bustling Metropolitan to chance upon the thriving suburb of Tamiami, a mid-size city occupying 7.6 square miles west of Westchester near University Park, Coral Terrace, and Sweetwater.
Serene and unassuming, you won't find much information about Tamiami online or in print, apart from its top "attraction," the Tamiami Trail, a long scenic road connecting Tampa and Miami across the Everglades, so most tourists who stumble upon Tamiami look to the suburb as more of a welcoming pitstop to their chosen destination.
However, those looking for nature and outdoor recreation will tell you otherwise.
In fact, locals who prefer to live outside the Metro and a more simple, peaceful, and nature-driven lifestyle lean towards life in Tamiami, where the most inexpensive Miami real estate lie and are paired with a multitude of creature conveniences — all minutes from the center of Magic City's action!
So, if you're ready to leave urban living for Tamiami's suburban comfort with a dash of Miami spice, let this guide help you achieve a smooth and stress-free transition!
In no time, you'll be basking in the wonders of Tamiami — all you need is to start with the ESSENTIALS!
Here are 7 things you need to do IMMEDIATELY when moving to Tamiami.
The Journey To Sweet Suburbia Begins: Finding The HEART Of Your Tamiami Home
Now that you've found the perfect home in the western outskirts of the Metropolitan, it's time to start your exciting journey to suburbia!
And what could be a better way than to set up the "heart" of your Tamiami home?
To get the ball rolling, activate your electricity by creating or logging in to your existing account at the Florida Power & Light Company (FPL) website and applying for service at your new address.
New customers will need to submit their Social Security, Driver's License, Social Insurance, or Tax ID number, the new service address, and the connection date, and existing FPL customers only need to advise disconnection date (old address), re-connection date, and complete service address!
A deposit of $25 (minimum) and other initial set-up fees may be charged upfront, whether you're a new or existing customer.
If you prefer natural gas over electric kitchen appliances, you'll also want to hook your kitchen up with Florida City Gas (FCG)!
After confirming availability (a few Tamiami areas aren't serviceable), submit the necessary IDs and connection date (new customer) or advise the disconnection date, the complete address of your new home, and your preferred service transfer date (existing customer).
Please note that deposit fees may be based on your home's square footage or equal to twice the average monthly bill, and you may need to settle a connection fee before service starts.
Lastly, don't forget to check water and sewer availability on the Miami-Dade Water & Sewer website.
Once confirmed, new customers must create an online account and deposit $50 for water, $50 for sewer, and a non-refundable $45 connection fee, and existing owners must also settle any outstanding balance before service transfer.

On Finding Reliable "Connections": Securing Stable Internet And Cable Services In Tamiami
If you're keen on staying "connected" to the world outside your suburban paradise, you'll need a stable internet connection and a reliable cable TV service.
It's the 21st century — you won't find a home without one!
So, if you're looking for the best of the BEST, get in touch with popular service providers like Comcast Xfinity and AT&T!
Once you're through assessing your household's usage and entertainment needs, apply for new service by submitting your complete address and proper IDs online or in person at the nearest store, or if you're an existing Comcast or AT&T customer, request a service transfer as soon as you settle any remaining balance on your account!
It's also best to ask your provider if you need to settle deposits, activation/installation, and equipment rental fees upfront.
Otherwise, you'll find those charges on your first bill.

'Navigating' Life In Tamiami: Your Golden Ticket To The Great Roads Of Florida — And Everything In Between
Whether you're looking to avoid the hassles of public transportation or expedite your Tamiami relocation, having a Florida driver's license will be the KEY to your woes.
Yes, that tiny plastic card is your ticket to FREEDOM — literally and figuratively!
Aside from being a REQUIREMENT within 30 days of establishing residency, your Florida driver's license is one of the quickest IDs to apply for, much like in other states —and an ID is just what you need to get EVERYTHING done, like subscriptions, utilities, paperwork, documents, bills, the works!
And did I mention that you can't drive around Florida without one?
So, if you're moving to Tamiami sans a driver's license, visit the nearest Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DHSMV) or any local office offering driver's license services to submit the necessary documents.
Click on the applicable residency status to know which documents to have on hand when you apply:
The initial Florida Class E license, including a learner's permit, is $48.00, a commercial driver's license (Class A) is $75.00, and an ID Card fee is $25.00.
For a complete list of driver's license fees, click here.
Applicants with a current or previous driver's license from another state, country, or jurisdiction need not take the Drug and Alcohol courses, Class E Knowledge exam, and Florida Driving tests.
However, the Vision and Hearing test is still a must!
Meanwhile, if you have an existing Florida driver's license, notify the DMV of your new address for an updated driver's license — it's the law.
You'll also need insurance to title and register your vehicle(s) within ten (10) days of establishing residency.

So, if you want to become ELECTION-READY in 2024, get that voter registration sorted and stat!
To apply, ensure you're a United States citizen over 18 who meets all the requirements to be a registered voter and submit your application with the proper IDs and documents through the Florida Department of State or the Miami-Dade County Elections Department online, by mail, or in person at the Elections Department or any Elections Branch office!
For additional information, any current and valid identification with a photograph and signature (e.g., Florida Driver's License, United States passport, etc.) will be accepted!
