We have all the insider essentials to make your transition as smooth as the bay on a calm summer day!

Here are 7 things you need to do IMMEDIATELY when moving to Sunrise Harbour.

(1)

The "Current" Situation: Getting Your Sunrise Harbour Utilities in Flow

Ah, yes, Sunrise Harbour — an ultra-exclusive neighborhood of golden sunsets and priceless waterfront views.

Upon moving in, the first thing you'll probably realize — after admiring your million-dollar surroundings — is that none of it works without utilities.

So, before you sip espresso on your balcony or bask in that glorious Biscayne Bay breeze, you must power up your new paradise, meaning your electricity, gas, and water — the lifelines of luxury living.

But don't worry, this setup process isn't as complicated as figuring out which light switch controls what (That happens more often than we'd like, doesn't it?)

Florida Power & Light (FPL) takes care of the electricity, and whether you're new or transferring service, the process is straightforward.

First, complete an online application and have your Social Security number, Driver's License, or Tax ID ready with your full-service address and connection date.

If you already have an account with FPL, schedule a disconnection date at your old address and a reconnection date at your new Sunrise Harbour escape.

Heads up: a $25 deposit and setup fee apply to new and existing customers.

For natural gas service, your provider will be Florida City Gas (FCG) or TECO Peoples Gas (TPG) — check if service is available at your address, then set it up by providing your ID details and preferred connection date.

If you're transferring your service, updating your information with FCG or TPG is all it takes.

But here's a tiny catch — deposits are based on square footage and typically amount to twice the average monthly bill, plus a connection fee.

Lastly, Miami-Dade Water & Sewer handles your water and sewer needs, so confirm service availability and create an online account to arrange the service.

You should also expect a $50 deposit for water & sewer alongside a $45 non-refundable connection fee.

If you already have an account, ensure zero outstanding balances before transferring service.

Once these essentials are in place, you can focus on the more significant things, like which neighbor has the best boat and how to score an invite.

No Buffer Zone: Getting Your Internet & Cable Up to Speed in Sunrise Harbour

They say a waterfront home is only as good as its Wi-Fi.

Okay, no one ever "officially" said those exact words, but we're all thinking it!

Sure, the bay views are stunning, but if your internet lags during a live sports stream or a crucial Zoom call, you might as well be stranded at sea.

In Sunrise Harbour, your top contenders for high-speed internet and cable are Comcast Xfinity and AT&T, two esteemed companies offering service that can keep up with your streaming marathons, smart home gadgets, and late-night TikTok scrolling, whether you're a casual browser or a full-on home theater enthusiast.

Check their websites and find a plan to match your binge-watching, gaming, or work-from-home lifestyle.

Then, apply for a service online or visit a nearby store with your ID and new Sunrise Harbour address.

If you're already with Comcast or AT&T, transferring your account is a breeze after clearing any outstanding balances.

Oh, before you sign up, ask about deposits, activation fees, installation costs, and equipment rentals — the only surprises you want in your new home are breathtaking sunsets and not hidden fees.

Once everything's set up, your Sunrise Harbour retreat is officially ready for movie nights, live sports in crystal-clear HD, and Wi-Fi strong enough to keep every smart device humming.

After all, nothing says "welcome home" like buffer-free streaming and zero lag.

Coasting into Sunrise Harbour: Get Your Florida License Before Your Boat Becomes Plan A

Picture this: you're cruising through Sunrise Harbour, the bay breeze drifting in, the palm trees swaying as if they personally approved your arrival, and life is feeling pretty close to perfection — after getting your Florida driver's license, that is.

Yes, before you can zip through the city streets with the windows down and the music up, you need to make it official.

Florida requires new residents to get their driver's license within 30 days of moving in, so if you haven't checked this off your list yet, now's the time.

Head to the nearest Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DHSMV) or any local office offering driver's license services and submit the necessary documents.

To know which documents to bring, click on your residency status:

The initial Florida Class E license, including a learner's permit, is $48.00, a commercial driver's license (Class A) is $75.00, and an ID Card fee is $25.00.

For a complete list of fees, click here.

If you already have a valid license from another state, country, or jurisdiction, you may not have to take the Drug and Alcohol courses, Class E Knowledge exams, or driving tests.

But don't put away your glasses just yet — you still have to pass a Vision and Hearing test to prove you can see (and hear) the Miami traffic coming.

You must also title and register your vehicle for insurance within ten (10) days of establishing residency because paperwork never takes a vacation — even in paradise!

For those already holding a Florida driver's license, update your address with the DMV to get your new ID and have your old address on file replaced.

With that out of the way, you can freely drive in, out, and around Sunrise Harbour and figure out which scenic route makes for the best sunset drive.

Registering is quick, easy, and, unlike Miami traffic, completely stress-free.

Just like that, you're officially a voting resident of Sunrise Harbour!

Nothing says "I belong here" like a ballot with your name, right?

Tidy, Not Tacky: Keeping Sunrise Harbour Spotless

Living in Sunrise Harbour means enjoying sparkling bay views, manicured streets, and a neighborhood so pristine that it could be your next screensaver.

But keeping this little slice of paradise looking picture-perfect isn't magic — it's a well-oiled waste management system (and a little effort from everyone).

So, before you accidentally become THAT neighbor, here's what you need to know about trash and recycling services in Sunrise Harbour:

  • Garbage & Trash collection for Single-Family homes (twice a week) - Monday and Thursday, Tuesday and Friday
  • Recycling collection (daily, depending on the address) and pre-dated Recycling drive-thru events
  • "Bulky" trash collection by the City of Miami Solid Waste Department (once a week)
  • Multi-family residence garbage & trash collection by the City of Miami Solid Waste Department (twice a week)

Stay on top of your waste management schedule — violations can lead to fines, and a messy reputation is harder to clean up than your recycling bins.

For the latest schedules and updates, visit the City of Coral Gables - Sanitation Services and the City of Miami Solid Waste Department websites or connect with your HOA.

A little effort goes a long way in keeping Sunrise Harbour as stunning as the day you moved in — so sort your recyclables, roll those bins to the curb on time, and keep that coastal charm intact!
