Find yourself amidst a flawless fusion of luxury beachside living and unparalleled natural scenery as you explore life in the serene tropical paradise of South of Fifth, a hidden gem touted as South Beach's most coveted community!

Explore the southernmost tip of Miami Beach to find one of South Beach's most coveted addresses, South of Fifth, a tiny residential enclave extending from South Pointe Park to Fifth Street, surrounded by water on all three sides, from the Ocean to Biscayne Bay.

While most conjure images of vibrant nightlife, art deco, and constant action when thinking of South Beach, South of Fifth, despite being among SoBe's group of communities, is a whole world of its own.

Despite being moments away from the 24/7 stimulation further north, SoFi provides a more relaxed, crowd-free scenery paired with a dreamy resort-style vibe alongside easy access to the excitement of the thriving townrestaurants, watersports, recreational activities, tourist spots, lush parks, shopping, and entertainment!

To further the experience, South of Fifth blends its unparalleled creature comforts with lavish real estate, filling its coveted spaces with beachside townhomes, multi-million dollar estates, luxury apartments, and gorgeous condos, putting SoFi in the ranks of Miami Beach's best neighborhoods — but on a whole other level!

So, if you're ready to start a NEW chapter of your life in South Beach's most famous oceanfront neighborhood, read on for the best tips on how you can immerse into this marriage of luxury beachside living and sophisticated urban amenities as smoothly and stress-free as possible!

Here are 7 things you need to do IMMEDIATELY when moving to South of Fifth.

Embracing A Serene Beachside Refuge: Your South Of Fifth Relocation In Motion

Ready to get your SoFi relocation in motion?

Let's start setting up your home essentials, shall we?

To hook up your electricity in South of Fifth, create or log in to your existing account at the Florida Power & Light Company (FPL) website and apply for service at your new address.

New account holders need to submit their Social Security, Driver's License, Social Insurance, or Tax ID number, the new service address, and the connection date, and existing FPL customers only need to advise the disconnection date (old address), re-connection date,  and complete service address for a service transfer.

Other than this, a deposit of $25 (minimum) and other initial set-up fees may be charged upfront, whether you're a new or existing customer.

Meanwhile, if your HOA or building management allows natural gas for cooking, get in touch with TECO Peoples Gas for your service!

To apply for service, submit the necessary IDs and connection date (new customer) or advise the disconnection date, the complete address of your new home, and your preferred service transfer date (existing customer).

The deposit fees may be based on the home's square footage or equal to twice the average monthly bill, and you may need to settle a connection fee before the service connection.

That'll be all you need to get the ball rolling— water and sewer services are provided by the City of Miami Beach, so ideally, you should have running water as soon as you move into your new SoFi address.

For concerns, questions, and requests about your water service, visit the City of Miami Beach Customer Service website to know more.

A Touch Of Technology: Hooking Up To Internet And Cable Services

Do you feel like your SoFi home is missing a touch of technology?

If you are, you're probably not hooked to any internet and cable services yet!

And we all know how vital these subscriptions are to leveling up your lifestyle!

For the best bundles and packages around Miami Beach, check popular service providers like Comcast Xfinity and AT&T!

Assess your household's usage and entertainment needs and apply for a new service by submitting your complete address and proper IDs online or in person at the nearest store, or if you're an existing Comcast or AT&T customer, request a service transfer as soon as you settle any remaining balance on your account!

It's also best to ask your provider about paying deposits, activation/installation, and equipment rental fees upfront.

Otherwise, these will all reflect on your first bill.

Running With The Cool Crowd: The ID You Need To Become A Full-Pledge SoFi Resident

Are you moving into your SoFi home without a Florida driver's license?

You might want to re-think your options — without one, you'll be stuck sorting your relocation!

You see, aside from being a REQUIREMENT within 30 days of establishing residency, a Florida driver's license is one of the first (and quickest) IDs you can get to become an OFFICIAL Floridian, and an ID is exactly what you need for all these necessary processes and documents to advance!

Not to mention, you won't be able to drive around Florida without a license!

So, before anything else, visit the nearest Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DHSMV) or any local office offering driver's license services and submit the necessary documents to get a Florida driver's license.

Click on the applicable residency status to know which documents to have on hand when you apply:

The initial Florida Class E license, including a learner's permit, is $48.00, a commercial driver's license (Class A) is $75.00, and an ID Card fee is $25.00.

For a complete list of driver's license fees, click here.

Usually, those with a current or previous driver's license from another state, country, or jurisdiction don't have to take Drug and Alcohol courses, Class E Knowledge exams, and the Florida Driving tests, but the Vision and Hearing test is mandatory!

Meanwhile, if you already have a Florida driver's license, notify the DMV of your new address for an updated driver's license to avoid run-ins with the law.

Aside from your license, you'll need insurance to title and register your vehicle(s) within ten (10) days of establishing residency.

In fact, thanks to Miami Beach's throngs of private, public, and charter schools, your child won't need to go elsewhere for elementary, middle, and senior high!

And we're not just talking about mediocre options here — in SoFi, the term "premium" is the ONLY constant!

Stepping Up For SoFi: Voter Registration In South Of Fifth

Since you're already ticking tasks off your moving-in checklist, see that you put "voter registration" on that list, too!

That's if you don't already have one yet!

You can't expect to have a VOICE within your new community without the RIGHT to VOTE, agree?

So if you're a legal age newly naturalized U.S. citizen (or otherwise, not judging), submit your application with the proper IDs and documents through the Florida Department of State or the Miami-Dade County Elections Department online, by mail, or in person at the Elections Department or any Elections Branch office!

Any current and valid identifications with a photograph and signature (e.g., Florida Driver's License, United States passport, etc.) will be accepted, so make this your utmost priority!

An Environmental Commitment: South Of Fifth's Pledge To Mother Nature

Upon stepping on the sands of SoFi, you've probably noticed its spotless streets, pristine beachfront, and green public spaces.

This community IS a MARRIAGE of luxury beachside living and unparalleled natural beauty, so it's what should be expected!

Of course, without strict recycling and waste management and PROPER disposal guidelines, all this gorgeousness on display won't be possible — and as a new SoFi resident, you'll have to observe and adhere to it all, most especially SoFi's established solid waste and recycling schedules!

To give you an idea, check out these solid waste, "bulky" garbage, and recycling schedules below, as advised by the City of Miami Beach Sanitation Division:

  • Residential Garbage Collection (twice a week)
  • Free recycling collection (Wednesdays)
  • "Bulky" trash collection (first weekend of the month or by appointment)

Failure to follow these waste management codes may result in a fine or arrest.
