Transform your world into a paradise where peacocks have the right of way, lush nature is a constant, and affluence is a lifestyle — you're in Pinecrest, a suburban paradise hailed as the PERFECT embodiment of Southern charm and contemporary dynamism!

Tucked away amidst the bustling landscapes of South Florida is the nature-rich paradise of Pinecrest, a mid-sized suburban village hailed as Florida's 139th largest community, bordered north by SW 88th Street (Kendall Drive) south until SW 136th Street (Howard Drive), east by SW 57th Avenue (Red Road), and west by US 1 (South Dixie Highway).

Showcasing its unique charm through its tree-lined streets, verdant surroundings, and majestic homes, Pinecrest, spanning   7.6 miles, pairs its coveted spaces  with established eateries, vast neighborhood parks, shopping destinations, and public art, making it one of Miami's most sought-after communities, especially for those looking to reside within a sprawling suburban setting while being minutes from the Metropolitan!

Not to mention that Pinecrest's  lavish collection of PREMIUM real estate, dominated by ranch-style homes, mesmerizing mansions, secluded estates, and modest single-family makes you feel like you're living a GRAND vacation every day!

So, if you're among those hooked by this suburban escape, along with 19,909 Floridians, let's make your transfer to Pinecrest as painless as possible, shall we?

Here are 7 things you need to do IMMEDIATELY when moving to Pinecrest.

     (1)

A Lifetime In The Greenbelt Of Miami: Adorning Your Pinecrest Home With Living Essentials

Is everything all set for your big Pinecrest move?

Before you haul in the decor and expensive furniture, don't forget to set up your utilities first!

All that preparation will be for nothing if you can't SEE anything inside your new Pinecrest home!

To shed some light on your home (literally), create or log in to your existing account at the  Florida Power & Light Company (FPL)  website and apply for service at your new address.

New account holders need to submit their Social Security, Driver's License, Social Insurance, or Tax ID number, the new service address, and the connection date, and existing FPL customers only need to advise the disconnection date (old address), re-connection date,  and complete service address for a service transfer.

Apart from this, a deposit of $25 (minimum) and other initial set-up fees may be charged upfront, whether you're a new or existing customer.

To cook your food using natural gas, let  Florida City Gas (FCG)  hook up your service.

After confirming availability, submit the necessary IDs and connection date (new customer) or advise the disconnection date, the complete address of the new home, and preferred service transfer date (existing customer) — easy as pie!

Your deposit fees may be based on the home's square footage or equal to twice the average monthly bill, and you may need to settle a connection fee before the service connection.

To conclude your utilities, check water and sewer availability on the  Miami-Dade Water & Sewer  website.

Once confirmed, new customers must create an online account and deposit $50 for water, $50 for sewer, and a non-refundable $45 connection fee, and existing owners must also settle any outstanding balance before service transfer.

     (2)

The Fundamentals Of A Modern Refuge: Setting Up Your Internet And Cable TV In Pinecrest

Can't seem to pinpoint the missing piece inside your new Pinecrest home?

Check your TV and laptop — you may not be connected to any internet and cable service yet!

Considered essential to a modern home, reliable internet connection and cable TV are the two services that will complete your Pinecrest fundamentals — and I'm not talking about just ANY package!

You're living in Pinecrest — your home deserves ONLY the best!

So, for the most competitive bundle around Pinecrest, seek service from providers like  Comcast Xfinity  and   AT&T !

All you need to do is assess your household's usage and entertainment needs, choose a suitable plan, and apply for a new service by submitting your complete address and proper IDs online or in person at the nearest store.

Meanwhile, if you're an existing Comcast or AT&T customer, request a service transfer as soon as you settle any remaining balance on your account!

You'll also want to check with your provider if you need to settle deposits, activation/installation, and equipment rental fees upfront.

Otherwise, expect these charges to reflect on your first bill.

     (3)

The Starting Point To A Lifetime In Pinecrest: Your Official Florida ID

You say you want a painless Pinecrest relocation, yet you don't have a Florida driver's license?

Well, pal, that's the biggest mistake you've ever made!

You see, a Florida driver's license isn't just a REQUIREMENT within 30 days of establishing residency!

With a Florida driver's license, you drive on all Florida roads and get things done QUICKER!

If this isn't your first rodeo in moving homes, you already know you need an ID to help you with paperwork, utilities, and requesting documents!

So, if you don't have one, visit the nearest  Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DHSMV)  or any local office offering driver's license services and submit the necessary documents.

Click on the applicable residency status to know which documents to have on hand when you apply:

    •  U.S Citizen
    • Immigrant
    • Non-Immigrant
    •  Canadian

The initial Florida Class E license, including a learner's permit, is $48.00, a commercial driver's license (Class A) is $75.00, and an ID Card fee is $25.00.

For a complete list of driver's license fees,  click here.

Applicants with a current or previous driver's license from another state, country, or jurisdiction need not take the Drug and Alcohol courses, Class E Knowledge exam, and Florida Driving tests.

However, the Vision and Hearing test is still a must!

You'll also need insurance to title and register your vehicle(s) within ten (10) days of establishing residency.

On the other hand, if you have an existing Florida driver's license, notify the DMV of your new address for an updated driver's license to avoid breaking the law.

     (4)

Not only will you get a "say" on the impending changes to your new community, but voter registration will help you earn a rightful spot within your neighborhood, city, and country!

So, if you're a United States citizen over 18 who meets all the requirements to become a registered voter yet living in 2024 without ONE, submit your application with the proper IDs and documents through the  Florida Department of State  or the  Miami-Dade County Elections Department  online, by mail, or in person at the Elections Department or any Elections Branch office!

To give you an idea, any current and valid identifications with a photograph and signature (e.g., Florida Driver's License, United States passport, etc.) are accepted, so stop dilly-dallying and prioritize your voter registration!

     (6)

Preserving Sunshine And Suburbia: Sustainability For The Peacocks — And The People

With a paradise this clean and lush, you already know Pinecrest is serious about implementing strict recycling and waste management guidelines.

In fact, all Miami communities are!

So, if you want to rally behind Pinecrest's and Miami's call for sustainability, do your part in preserving your new community's beauty and environmental health!

And the best way to do it?

Keep yourself informed of Pinecrest's current solid waste, "bulky" garbage, and recycling schedules!

To help you on your quest, I've listed the ongoing schedules for each below:

    •  Garbage & Trash collection (twice a week)
    • Free recycling collection (every other week)
    •  "Bulky" trash collection (once a week)

Failure to follow these waste management codes will result in a fine or arrest.

For detailed information about schedules and fees in your area, visit the  Village of Pinecrest Public Works FAQs , the  City of Miami Solid Waste Department , or check with your HOA.
