With this, Palmetto Bay has remained a top residential refuge for families, offering an esteemed quality of life through an extensive park system, facilities, recreational programs,  educational institutionsa diverse selection of real estate, access to creature comforts, and the promise of a pristine natural environment, which the suburban paradise intends to keep!

Here are 7 things you need to do IMMEDIATELY when moving to Palmetto Bay.

(1)

Your Palmetto Bay Debut: Bringing Your Palmetto Bay Home To LIFE

Does bringing to life mean rising from the dead?

While in a horror story, it might, for your Palmetto Bay home, it will mean an entirely different thing.

And if this isn't your first rodeo in relocating, you already know what I'm talking about!

So, to get the rest of your "moving in" errands sorted, let's start setting up your Palmetto Bay home utilities, shall we?

For the electricity, create or log in to your existing account at the Florida Power & Light Company (FPL) website and apply for service at your new address.

New account holders need to submit their Social Security, Driver's License, Social Insurance, or Tax ID number, the new service address, and the connection date, and existing FPL customers only need to advise the disconnection date (old address), re-connection date,  and complete service address for a service transfer.

In addition, a deposit of $25 (minimum) and other initial set-up fees may be charged upfront, whether you're a new or existing customer.

For food lovers who need natural gas to cook, get your service from Florida City Gas (FCG).

After confirming availability, submit the necessary IDs and connection date (new customer) or advise the disconnection date, the complete address of the new home, and preferred service transfer date (existing customer) — then, the waiting game begins!

Your deposit fees may be based on the home's square footage or equal to twice the average monthly bill, and you may need to settle a connection fee before the service connection.

For the finale, check water and sewer availability on the Miami-Dade Water & Sewer website.

Once confirmed, new customers must create an online account and deposit $50 for water, $50 for sewer, and a non-refundable $45 connection fee, and existing owners must also settle any outstanding balance before service transfer.

Comfort In Technology: Setting Up Essential Provisions In Your Home

Aside from your utilities, making your Palmetto Bay house a home involves essential technology subscriptions, including a high-speed internet connection and cable service!

In fact, with these two in your arsenal, homesickness won't be a problem since everyone back home will be a WhatsApp call away!

Not to mention, you'll have your favorite TV series in the background, too!

So, for reliable internet and cable services, look to top-rating service providers like Comcast Xfinity and AT&T!

After you've assessed your household's usage and chosen a suitable package, apply for a new service by submitting your complete address and proper IDs online or in person at the nearest store, or if you're an existing Comcast or AT&T customer, request for a service transfer as soon as you settle any remaining balance on your account!

It's also best to check with your provider if you need to settle deposits, activation/installation, and equipment rental fees upfront to avoid any "surprises."

Otherwise, these said charges may reflect on your first bill.

A Floridian Cornerstone: Applying For A Florida Driver's License In Palmetto Bay

Moving homes leads to overwhelming piles of paperwork, bills, and documents — in short, a whole lot of sweat and effort!

So, if you want to make things move quicker — literally and figuratively— do yourself a favor by getting a Florida driver's license.

Not only is a Florida driver's license a REQUIREMENT within 30 days of establishing residency, but it's also your only "green light" to drive on all Florida roads and the easiest ID to get in your new state!

And we all know you'll need an ID to get your relocation process going!

So, to get one, visit the nearest Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DHSMV) or any local office offering driver's license services and submit the necessary documents.

Click on the applicable residency status to know which documents to have on hand when you apply:

The initial Florida Class E license, including a learner's permit, is $48.00, a commercial driver's license (Class A) is $75.00, and an ID Card fee is $25.00.

For a complete list of driver's license fees, click here.

Applicants with a current or previous driver's license from another state, country, or jurisdiction need not take the Drug and Alcohol courses, Class E Knowledge exam, and Florida Driving tests.

However, the Vision and Hearing test is still a must!

You'll also need insurance to title and register your vehicle(s) within ten (10) days of establishing residency.

Meanwhile, if you have an existing Florida driver's license, notify the DMV of your new address for an updated driver's license to avoid breaking the law.

Rallying Behind Palmetto Bay: Joining The Palmetto Bay Elections

Pretty much every city or state you'll move to will have ONE thing in common — they'll all require you to have voter registration!

And if you think about it, it's a given — no right to vote means no voice in the community and society!

And I bet none of you will like that!

So, if you're living in 2024 WITHOUT voter registration, it's time to do something about it, especially since you're moving to Palmetto Bay soon!

All you need to be is a United States citizen over 18 who meets all the requirements to become a registered voter!

To apply, submit your application with the proper IDs and documents through the Florida Department of State or the Miami-Dade County Elections Department online, by mail, or in person at the Elections Department or any Elections Branch office!

For other legal forms of identification and supplementary requirements, click here.

For your reference, any current and valid identifications with a photograph and signature (e.g., Florida Driver's License, United States passport, etc.) should suffice, so make your voter registration a PRIORITY!
