Start a new journey filled with the excitement of the outdoors, lush natural beauty, and the convenience of urban amenities in North Miami Beach, a first-tier suburb prided by inclusivity, creativity, and innovation at "the crossroads of South Florida!"

Nestled in the northeast section of Miami-Dade County is the premier community of North Miami Beach, a suburban paradise revered for its strategic location midway between Miami and Fort Lauderdale International Airport, adjacent to the Golden Glades Interchange where I-95, Florida's Turnpike, and the Palmetto Expressway meet.

Often confused with its more famous namesake, North Beach, North Miami Beach (with stress on "Miami"), much like the former, offers plenty of sun, sand, and outdoor activities despite not having an actual beach within its perimeter and a small-town vibe that's common with suburban cities.

NMB is also one of South Florida's regional shopping areas and a famous site for offices due to its proximity to Aventura, Miami Beach, Hallandale Beach, and Sunny Isles Beach, which means endless recreational and career opportunities abound in and around North Miami Beach, making it a choice residential for families and individuals alike.

Not to mention that North Miami Beach boasts a massive collection of residential properties, where prospective homeowners can find everything from cozy starter homes to elegant waterfront residences, which means finding the perfect home in this thriving community is pretty easyand it's bound to be more affordable, too!

So, if you're looking into residing in North Miami Beach or are already relocating to this fine community, sit back and let me guide you through the "ins and outs" of transitioning into NMB's coveted suburban lifestyle, starting with the ESSENTIALS!

Here are 7 things you need to do IMMEDIATELY when moving to North Miami Beach.

(1)

Setting Up Your North Miami Beach Utilities — The Foundation Of Your NMB Journey

Before you can get all your moving errands sorted, you need THREE vital services to get your new North Miami Beach home up and running.

And if this isn't your first rodeo in relocation, you already know which utilities I'm talking about!

So, let's hook up your electricity, water, and natural gas services, shall we?

For electricity, create or log in to your existing account at the Florida Power & Light Company (FPL) website and apply for service at your new address.

New account holders need to submit their Social Security, Driver's License, Social Insurance, or Tax ID number, the new service address, and the connection date, and existing FPL customers only need to advise the disconnection date (old address), re-connection date,  and complete service address for a service transfer.

Aside from your application, a deposit of $25 (minimum) and other initial set-up fees may be charged upfront, whether you're a new or existing customer.

Meanwhile, to set up your kitchen's natural gas service, contact TECO Peoples Gas or Florida City Gas, depending on your area.

To apply, submit the necessary IDs and connection date (new customer) or advise the disconnection date, the complete address of your new home, and your preferred service transfer date (existing customer).

Note that deposit fees may be based on the home's square footage or equal to twice the average monthly bill, and you may need to settle a connection fee before the service connection.

Last on the list is your water and sewer services.

If your property is newly built, contact the City of North Miami Beach to activate your account for water and sewer services.

Otherwise, these two utilities should be up and running upon your relocation.

The NMB Lifestyle Must-Haves: Applying For Internet And Cable TV Services

In this age of technology, internet and cable services are considered "essentials" in setting up a home, especially if you live far from your relatives and extended family.

So, if you're looking for a reliable connection, seek established service providers like Comcast Xfinity or AT&T!

So, once you've determined your household's usage and entertainment needs, submit your complete address and proper IDs online or in person at the nearest Breezeline or Hotwire store, or if you're an existing customer, request a service transfer as soon as you pay any remaining balance on your account!

It's also best to ask your provider about paying deposits, activation/installation, and equipment rental fees upfront.

Otherwise, these charges may reflect on your first bill.

An ID For Everything: Securing Your First NMB Identification

Are you excited to get your hands on an ID with your new North Miami Beach address?

For the easiest North Miami Beach ID to secure, apply for a Florida driver's license, especially if you're from another country or state!

By doing so, you're not only adhering to the state's guidelines (a Florida driver's license is a REQUIREMENT within 30 days of establishing residency), but you'll also get a headstart on your relocation process and have the "go-signal" to drive around Florida!

To get yours, visit the nearest Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DHSMV) or any local office offering driver's license services and submit the necessary documents.

Click on the applicable residency status to know which documents to have on hand when you apply:

The initial Florida Class E license, including a learner's permit, is $48.00, a commercial driver's license (Class A) is $75.00, and an ID Card fee is $25.00.

For a complete list of driver's license fees, click here.

Generally, those with a current or previous driver's license from another state, country, or jurisdiction don't have to take Drug and Alcohol courses, Class E Knowledge exams, and the Florida Driving tests, but the Vision and Hearing test is mandatory!

Meanwhile, if you have an existing Florida driver's license, notify the DMV of your relocation so the address will be updated on your ID and the system!

Also, don't forget to get insurance to title and register your vehicle(s) within ten (10) days of establishing residency.
