Moving to North Beach? 7 Things You Need To Do Immediately!
Embrace a slow-paced, ocean-centric lifestyle adorned with the pleasures of Miami's world-renowned coastal resort city, where life moves in steady waves — welcome to North Beach, a tranquil retreat on the sparkling sands of Miami Beach's northern tip!
Uncover a different side of Miami Beach as you move towards its northern stretches to find North Beach, a family-friendly community comprising the Isles of Normandy, Biscayne Point, and La Gorce communities, roughly bounded by 63rd Street and Indian Creek Drive to the south and 87th Terrace to the north.
Referred to by locals as South Beach's "sleepy" cousin, North Beach is embellished with a small-town atmosphere and a more relaxed lifestyle, presenting a strong local identity far different from the Miami Beach scene most are accustomed to.
Thus, North Beach has become one of, if not the most sought-after residential communities in Miami Beach, catering to those looking to live in Miami's world-renowned coastal resort city sans the delightful chaos further south!
Not to mention, North Beach is Miami Beach's most affordable neighborhood, too!
And with its ongoing renaissance of new condo developments and its city center's revitalization, North Beach has slowly landed on the radars of beach-loving homebuyers looking for a spot on Miami Beach's crowd-free sands, and I'm pretty sure it's reached yours too!
So, if you've already started the moving process and wish to settle in North Beach the smoothest and most convenient way possible, use this guide to help you glide through your transition — once you're through, you'll be adapting North Beach's unparalleled way of life in NO TIME!
Here are 7 things you need to do IMMEDIATELY when moving to North Beach.

And So The Journey Begins: Your Essential Services In North Beach
Welcome to North Beach!
Now that you finally have a dreamy refuge in Miami Beach's most serene stretches, it's time to "light it up" to get your North Beach adventure started!
To set up your electricity, create or log in to your existing account at the Florida Power & Light Company (FPL) website and apply for service at your new address.
New account holders need to submit their Social Security, Driver's License, Social Insurance, or Tax ID number, the new service address, and the connection date, and existing FPL customers only need to advise the disconnection date (old address), re-connection date, and complete service address for a service transfer.
For your reference, a deposit of $25 (minimum) and other initial set-up fees may be charged upfront, whether you're a new or existing customer.
Meanwhile, if you love to cook and prefer using natural gas, hook your service up with TECO Peoples Gas!
To apply, you may submit the necessary IDs and connection date (new customer) or advise the disconnection date, the complete address of your new home, and your preferred service transfer date (existing customer).
Your deposit fees may be based on the home's square footage or equal to twice the average monthly bill, and you may need to settle a connection fee before the service connection.
And that's the rest of it — your water and sewer services will be provided by the City of Miami Beach, so ideally, you should have running water as soon as you move into your new Miami Beach address.
For concerns, questions, and requests about your water service, visit the City of Miami Beach Customer Service website to know more.

"Connectopia" In Utopia: A Quick Guide To Getting Internet And Cable Services In North Beach
Living in a tropical utopia WITHOUT high-speed internet and cable service?
No matter how beautiful your home is, you won't survive this modern era!
Yes, even in an unparalleled paradise like North Beach!
So, to hook up to reliable "connections," seek esteemed providers like Comcast Xfinity and AT&T!
Once you've assessed your usage and entertainment needs, apply for a new service by submitting your complete address and proper IDs online or in person at the nearest store, or if you're an existing Comcast or AT&T customer, request a service transfer as soon as you settle any remaining balance on your account!
It's also best to ask your provider about any deposits, activation/installation, and equipment rental fees upfront.
Otherwise, expect these charges to reflect on your first bill.

Establishing A New Home Base In Paradise: The Easiest North Beach ID You Can Get
Do you know what's the best thing about living in Florida?
Getting a driver's license is as easy as pie!
So, if you're moving to North Beach from a different state or country, don't forget to prioritize your Florida driver's license application!
You see, aside from being a REQUIREMENT within 30 days of establishing residence, a Florida driver's license is one of the first (and quickest) IDs you can get to make your Floridian residency official.
Not to mention that you'll also need it to drive on all Florida roads!
To get yours, visit the nearest Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DHSMV) or any local office offering driver's license services and submit the necessary documents.
Click on the applicable residency status to know which documents to have on hand when you apply:
The initial Florida Class E license, including a learner's permit, is $48.00, a commercial driver's license (Class A) is $75.00, and an ID Card fee is $25.00.
For a complete list of driver's license fees, click here.
You'll also need insurance to title and register your vehicle(s) within ten (10) days of establishing residency.
Meanwhile, if you already have a Florida driver's license, notify the DMV of your new address for an updated driver's license to avoid breaking the law.
Usually, those with a current or previous driver's license from another state, country, or jurisdiction don't have to take Drug and Alcohol courses, Class E Knowledge exams, and the Florida Driving tests, but the Vision and Hearing test is mandatory!

Cultivating Young Minds: All The Best Schools In North Beach
Here's a treat for parents moving to North Beach —
If you're swamped with errands because of your North Beach relocation, you can take "schools" off your list!
And why is that you ask?
Well, unlike most beach communities in other states or countries, North Beach, and the whole of Miami Beach, is a TREASURE TROVE of schools — and I mean private, public, and charter educational institutions from elementary to senior high!
So, if you're still searching for the RIGHT school for your child, choose from top-rated schools like North Beach Elementary School, Biscayne Beach Elementary School, Mater Beach Academy, Hebrew Academy RASG, and Miami Beach Senior High School — any of these options will be a viable choice for your child's education, guaranteed!
But if you need more information about schools around North Beach, click on Schools in North Beach or visit the Miami-Dade County Public Schools website for all the public schools near you!
Meanwhile, if you need childcare services, check out our blog, Daycares in North Beach, for options near your new home!

A Better North Beach: How One Vote Can Rock The Boat
Started the first few months of 2024 (still) as an unregistered voter?
Well, in North Beach, that just won't "fly!"
When you think about it, moving to a new neighborhood is already a feat, and without the right to VOTE, you're making things a hundred times harder by making yourself an OUTSIDER in your own community!
So, if you're over 18 and a United States Citizen who meets all the requirements to become a registered voter (but still isn't one), submit your application with the proper IDs and documents through the Florida Department of State or the Miami-Dade County Elections Department online, by mail, or in person at the Elections Department or any Elections Branch office!
To give you an idea, any current and valid identifications with a photograph and signature (e.g., Florida Driver's License, United States passport, etc.) will suffice, so make this your utmost priority!
