Find your center in the CENTER of Miami Beach where "South Beach cool" and "North Beach calm" collide — this is Mid Beach, a beachfront community celebrated for architectural elegance, tropical allure, and luxury, perfectly encapsulating the essence of Miami Beach living!

Boasting three miles of stunning sand and sea in the  heart  of Miami's most famous tropical paradise is Mid Beach, a 40-block-community  north  of  23rd Street and  Indian Creek  and  south  of  Surprise Lake  and  63rd Street, along the ocean and Intracoastal Waterway.

Its gorgeous stretch home to "Millionaires Row," Mid Beach comprises the neighborhoods of Oceanfront, Bayshore, and Nautilus, where you'll find sunny  weather, funky cafes and restaurants, various shopping options, and an endless supply of warm sand, gentle waves, and Vitamin D year-round, leading it to become one of Miami's top-ranking tourist destinations, catering to those who enjoy the beach, luxury shopping, world-class dining, a raving nightlife, the serenity of nature, and anything else in between!

With all these considered, it's not surprising that Mid Beach has evolved from being a famous beach getaway to a revered Miami Beach residential community, pairing its sun-kissed charm with world-class creature comforts, schools, career opportunities, daily essentials, and an EXTENSIVE collection of real estate, including high-class apartments and condos by the beach!

So, if you're one of those who've decided to make your Mid Beach stay PERMANENT, congratulations!

Now that you've grabbed the opportunity to live in one of Miami's most coveted beachfront neighborhoods, it's time to make the transition as smooth and enjoyable as possible with our ULTIMATE guide to the essentials of Mid Beach living!

     You're welcome!

Here are 7 things you need to do IMMEDIATELY when moving to Mid Beach.

     (1)

Letting A Sun-Kissed Lifestyle Unfold: A Basic Guide To Setting Up The Mid Beach Basics

Are you ready for life in one of Miami Beach's most coveted communities?

If so, avoid skipping the ESSENTIALS — and I don't mean swimsuits, tanning lotions, and tropical cocktails!

While you'll get to those shortly, you'll want to bring your Mid Beach home to life FIRST by setting up your utilities!

For electricity, create or log in to your existing account at the  Florida Power & Light Company (FPL)  website and apply for service at your new address, new or otherwise.

New account holders need to submit their Social Security, Driver's License, Social Insurance, or Tax ID number, the new service address, and the connection date, and existing FPL customers only need to advise the disconnection date (old address), re-connection date,  and complete service address for a service transfer.

A deposit of $25 (minimum) and other initial set-up fees may be charged upfront, whether you're a new or existing customer.

Meanwhile, for those who cook using natural gas,   TECO Peoples Gas  will be the best supplier for your service!

To apply, submit the necessary IDs and connection date (new customer) or advise the disconnection date, the complete address of your new home, and your preferred service transfer date (existing customer).

For reference, deposit fees may be based on the home's square footage or equal to twice the average monthly bill, and you may need to settle a connection fee before the service connection.

And that's a WRAP — your water and sewer services will be provided by the City of Miami Beach, so ideally, you should have running water as soon as you move into your new Miami Beach address.

For concerns, questions, and requests about your water and sewer, visit the  City of Miami Beach Customer Service  website to know more.

     (2)

Answering Technology's Call: Creating A Modern Mid Beach Home

Living amidst the continuous rise of modern technology, all homes NEED reliable internet and cable services.

Yes, even in a paradise as beautiful as Mid Beach!

So, for the best internet-cable bundles across Miami Beach, reach out to esteemed service providers like  Comcast Xfinity  and   AT&T !

You may need time to research the best provider and bundle to fit your needs, but once you have one in mind, apply for a new service by submitting your complete address and proper IDs online or in person at the nearest store, or if you're an existing Comcast or AT&T customer, request a service transfer as soon as you pay any remaining balance on your account!

You'll also want to ask your provider about deposits, activation/installation, and equipment rental fees upfront, if any.

Otherwise, expect these charges to reflect on your first bill.

     (3)

Officially A Floridian: An ID You MUST Have At All Times

No matter how much you've accomplished on your "moving in" checklist, all that won't matter WITHOUT a Florida driver's license!

That is, of course, if you want to be an OFFICIAL Floridian!

You see, aside from being a REQUIREMENT within 30 days of establishing residence, a Florida driver's license is one of the first (and quickest) IDs you can get to make your Floridian residency official, and a MUST if you want and NEED to drive around Florida!

So, if you don't have a Florida driver's license yet, drop by the nearest  Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DHSMV)  or any local office offering driver's license services to submit the necessary documents.

Click on the applicable residency status to know which documents to have on hand when you apply:

    •  U.S Citizen
    • Immigrant
    • Non-Immigrant
    •  Canadian

The initial Florida Class E license, including a learner's permit, is $48.00, a commercial driver's license (Class A) is $75.00, and an ID Card fee is $25.00.

For a complete list of driver's license fees,  click here.

You'll also need insurance to title and register your vehicle(s) within ten (10) days of establishing residency.

Meanwhile, if you already have a Florida driver's license, notify the DMV of your new address for an updated driver's license to avoid run-ins with the law.

Most often, those with a current or previous driver's license from another state, country, or jurisdiction won't have to take Drug and Alcohol courses, Class E Knowledge exams, and the Florida Driving tests, but the Vision and Hearing test is mandatory!

     (4)

Embracing A Beachfront Education: Mid Beach's Well-Regarded Institutions

Stressing about where to enroll your child once you've settled into your Mid Beach home?

Relax and take a chill pill!

As much as Mid Beach stands out as a top-rated tourist destination, it's also a highly-revered residential community, meaning your child's school options won't be scarce in this tropical paradise!

In fact, no matter if you prefer private, public, or charter school, you won't have to go elsewhere since Mid Beach has all three options, from elementary to senior high!

Mater Academy - Mount Sinai, St. Patrick Catholic School, North Beach Elementary School, Innovative School of Temple Beth Sholom, Hebrew Academy RASG, Miami Beach Nautilus Middle School, Miami Beach Senior High School, and more — with all these choices in your midst, finding a school around Mid Beach will be a BREEZE!

So, for more information about schools in Mid Beach, click on  Schools in Mid Beach  or visit the  Miami-Dade County Public Schools  website for all the public schools near you!

Also, if you need childcare services, check out our blog,  Daycares in Mid Beach , for options near your new home!

     (5)

Joining Mid Beach's United Front: Engaging With Your New Community With One Vote

    A newly naturalized U.S. citizen?

    A legal-aged U.S. citizen without voter registration?

Whichever you are between the two, ensure you're a registered voter before or as soon as you join the Mid Beach community!

Do I even need to explain why?

Well, to put it simply, no voter registration means no voice in your new neighborhood, city, and country, making you feel even more like an outsider than you actually are!

So, if you're over 18 and a United States Citizen who meets all the requirements to become a registered voter, submit your application with the proper IDs and documents through the  Florida Department of State  or the  Miami-Dade County Elections Department  online, by mail or in person at the Elections Department or any Elections Branch office!

Any current and valid identifications with a photograph and signature (e.g., Florida Driver's License, United States passport, etc.) will suffice, so make your RIGHT to VOTE of utmost priority!

For other legal forms of identification and supplementary requirements,  c lick here.

     (6)

Being One With The Natural World: The Road To A Sustainable Mid Beach

Smitten with Mid Beach's miles of sugar-white beaches, lavish avenues, and natural beauty?

Keep everything spotless, fresh, and pristine by joining Miami Beach's efforts toward sustainability!

By observing Miami Beach's and Mid Beach's strict recycling and waste management and PROPER disposal guidelines, like the rest of the Miami Beach community, you're doing your part in preserving Miami Beach and all its wonders — and they're pretty easy to follow, too!

To give you an idea, check out these s olid waste, "bulky" garbage, and recycling schedules below, as advised by the  City of Miami Beach Sanitation Division:

    •  Residential Garbage Collection (twice a week)
    • Free recycling collection (Wednesdays)
    •  "Bulky" trash collection (first weekend of the month or by appointment)

Failure to follow these waste management codes may result in a fine or arrest.

For detailed information about schedules and fees in your zone, visit the   City of Miami Beach Sanitation Division website    ,  the  City of Miami Solid Waste Department , or check with your HOA.

     (7)

Alas, you're finally an official member of Mid Beach, home to Miami Beach's "Millionaire's Row!"

Now, it's time for you to bask in all its glory, starting by exploring the nooks and crannies of your NEW community!

I'm talking about nature and art-tripping at Collins Park, luxe events at the Faena Forum, long romantic walks on the Miami Beach Boardwalk, teasing your tastebuds with exquisite cuisines from Mid Beach's sophisticated restaurants and cafes, shopping at Lincoln Road, and more!

Yes, folks, everything you see on display is now YOURS for the taking!
