Make Pueblo Revival architecture, rich history, and abundant green spaces part of your everyday life as you explore an urban-suburban lifestyle in Miami Springs, a welcoming Metro Miami city bringing a small-town flavor to the heart of Miami!

Sprinkling some good old-fashioned charm, lush nature, and an urban-suburban feel to the Metro is one of Florida's first planned communities founded by Glenn Hammond Curtiss, "The Father of Naval Aviation," and James Bright during the "land boom" of the 1920s, Miami Springs, a triangle-like paradise known as Miami's "Heart of It All."

Bordered by Miami International Airport, the City of Hialeah, the Village of Virginia Gardens, and the Town of Medley, Miami Springs, albeit relatively smaller than most communities at 3.0 square miles, isn't one to discount if you're looking to pair city living with unparalleled aesthetics, historic landmarks, outdoor recreation, and affordable real estate — and tons of it!

In fact, you can say this straightforward community is Metro Miami's hidden gem, a focal point for anyone looking for an escape from the "overwhelming" energy of the city while being moments from everything that makes Miami a SUPERB destination!

So,  if you're packing your bags and getting ready to move to Miami Springs, congratulations on making one of the best decisions yet!

With the right tools and the PERFECT guide (ehem!), you can ease into this lovely town in stride and enjoy this chance to live, work, and play in the "Heart of It All!"

Here are 7 things you need to do IMMEDIATELY when moving to Miami Springs.

Conquering Life In Miami Springs: A Guide On Setting Up Your Home Utilities

While everyone follows a "curated" approach in moving houses, there's ONE thing you CAN'T put on the back burner — ever!

Your home utilities — electricity, water, and gas!

Needless to say, these THREE make a house a home, and setting them up at least a few days before your move ensures you'll have a warm place to hole up to and running water to use while you establish your life in Miami Springs!

Don't know where to start?

Well, that's what I'm here for!

To light up your home, create or log in to your existing account at the Florida Power & Light Company (FPL) website and apply for service at your new address, new or otherwise.

New account holders need to submit their Social Security, Driver's License, Social Insurance, or Tax ID number, the new service address, and the connection date, and existing FPL customers only need to advise the disconnection date (old address), re-connection date,  and complete service address for a service transfer.

Aside from this, a deposit of $25 (minimum) and other initial set-up fees may be charged upfront, whether you're a new or existing customer.

Meanwhile, if you prefer natural gas for cooking, Florida City Gas (FCG) will supply it for your new home!

After confirming availability, submit the necessary IDs and connection date (new customer) or advise the disconnection date, the complete address of the new home, and preferred service transfer date (existing customer) to have your stove working in NO TIME!

For reference, deposit fees may be based on the home's square footage or equal to twice the average monthly bill, and you may need to settle a connection fee before the service connection.

Last but not least, check water and sewer availability on the Miami-Dade Water & Sewer website.

Once confirmed, new customers must create an online account and deposit $50 for water, $50 for sewer, and a non-refundable $45 connection fee, and existing owners must also settle any outstanding balance before service transfer.

See?

Easy as 1, 2, 3!

A "FOMO-Free" Lifestyle: Staying In The Loop With Internet And Cable Services

Are you leaving family and friends behind in your relocation to Miami Springs?

Avoid the feeling of "missing out" by getting your new Miami Springs home reliable internet and cable services!

That way, you can keep your "connections" strong and ACTIVE even when you're miles away!

To find internet-cable packages that fit your needs, check established providers like Comcast Xfinity, and AT&T!

Once you're set on a provider and package, apply for a new service by submitting your complete address and proper IDs online or in person at the nearest store, or if you're an existing Comcast or AT&T customer, request a service transfer as soon as you pay any remaining balance on your account!

It's also best to check with your provider if you need to settle deposits, activation/installation, and equipment rental fees upfront to avoid any "surprises."

Otherwise, expect these charges to reflect on your first bill.

Establishing Your Miami Springs Residency: Your Florida Driver's License Made Easy

Are you excited to explore Miami Springs and the rest of Sunshine State?

Before planning an entire itinerary, make your Florida driver's license a PRIORITY (if you don't already have one!).

Known as one of the quickest Florida IDs to get, a Florida driver's license is a REQUIREMENT within 30 days of establishing residency and an ESSENTIAL for driving around Florida, so you'll need it to live a public transportation-free life in Miami Springs — or live in Florida altogether!

So, if you're a new driver or coming from a different state or country, drop by the nearest Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DHSMV) or any local office offering driver's license services and submit the necessary documents to get your Florida driver's license.

Click on the applicable residency status to know which documents to have on hand when you apply:

The initial Florida Class E license, including a learner's permit, is $48.00, a commercial driver's license (Class A) is $75.00, and an ID Card fee is $25.00.

For a complete list of driver's license fees, click here.

Those with a current or previous driver's license from another state, country, or jurisdiction may be allowed to skip the Drug and Alcohol courses, Class E Knowledge exam, and Florida Driving tests.

However, the Vision and Hearing test is still a must!

Conversely, if you already have a Florida driver's license, please advise the DMV of your new address for an updated driver's license to avoid breaking the law.

You'll also have to get insurance to title and register your vehicle(s) within ten (10) days of establishing residency.

Do you know the best part about moving to a new community?

It's establishing new lifetime "connections" and friendships and having a role in shaping the future of your city!

Who wouldn't want to have a "say" in preserving and enhancing the quality of life of your peers and even the entire country?

It's a good thing these perks come with exercising your right to VOTE — unless you don't have a voter registration yet!

So, if you're a United States citizen over 18 who meets all the requirements to become a registered voter, submit your application with the proper IDs and documents through the Florida Department of State or the Miami-Dade County Elections Department online, by mail or in person at the Elections Department or any Elections Branch office!

To give you an idea, any current and valid identifications with a photograph and signature (e.g., Florida Driver's License, United States passport, etc.) should suffice.

For other legal forms of identification and supplementary requirements, click here.

A voter registration only takes up MINUTES of your time, so make it a PRIORITY as soon as you move to Miami Springs!
