Palm Trees and Power Bills: Starting Life on La Gorce Island

Congratulations on starting a new chapter on La Gorce Island, the next step to a life of tropical charm, gated exclusivity, and easy access to the golden sands of Miami Beach!

Before you fully embrace this island's laid-back luxury (yes, that includes poolside siestas and sunset cocktails), taking care of the ESSENTIALS is a MUST, and it starts with your utilities.

To power your slice of paradise, head to the Florida Power & Light Company (FPL) website to create or update your account.

New subscribers must submit their Social Security, Driver's License, Social Insurance, or Tax ID number with their new La Gorce address and desired connection date.

On-going accounts, on the other hand, only need to provide the disconnection date for their previous address, the reconnection date for the new home, and the full-service address.

Heads up — a deposit starting at $25 and initial set-up fees may be charged, even if you're an existing customer.

Ready to fire up that new chef's kitchen? For homes with natural gas appliances, TECO Peoples Gas has you covered, and the application process is simple — just provide your ID details and the connection date to start service!

An existing consumer? Settle your remaining balance, share the disconnection date for your old address, the service transfer date, and your new La Gorce address!

New and existing customers must prepare a deposit based on the home size or equivalent to twice the average monthly bill and a connection fee before service begins.

And that's a wrap — your water and sewer services will be provided by the City of Miami Beach, so ideally, you should have running water as soon as you move into your new La Gorce Island address.

For concerns, questions, and requests about your water and sewer, visit the City of Miami Beach Customer Service website to know more.

WiFi in Paradise: Your La Gorce Island Home, Wired and Connected

Who says luxury island living and cutting-edge tech don't mix?

On La Gorce Island, reliable internet and cable TV services are as essential as your daily ocean views and morning sails!

To stay connected in your coastal slice, start exploring the best internet-cable bundles in Miami Beach from esteemed providers like Comcast Xfinity and AT&T, which offer a variety of packages tailored to meet your streaming, surfing, and smart-home needs.

You may need time to research the right plan to fit your household usage, but once you have one in mind, you can apply for a new service by submitting your complete address and proper IDs online or in person at the nearest store, or if you're an existing Comcast or AT&T customer, request a service transfer after paying any remaining balance on your account!

You'll also want to ask your provider about deposits, activation/installation, and equipment rental fees upfront, if any.

Otherwise, expect these charges to reflect on your first bill.

Whether working remotely, streaming your favorite shows, or controlling your smart home devices, La Gorce Island makes it easy to enjoy a tech-savvy lifestyle on the beach!

Smooth Drives and Island Vibes: The Official "Road" to Your La Gorce Island Adventures

While you might already be soaking in your bougie spot on the Bay and checking off your "moving in" to-dos, there's one crucial item you can't overlook — your Florida driver's license.

If you want to legally cruise around Miami Beach, a Florida driver's license is a non-negotiable requirement within 30 days of establishing residency and one of the fastest ways to make your Sunshine State status official.

To get started, visit the nearest Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DHSMV) or any local office offering driver's license services and submit the necessary documents.

Click on the applicable residency status to know which documents to have on hand when you apply:

The initial Florida Class E license, including a learner's permit, is $48.00, a commercial driver's license (Class A) is $75.00, and an ID Card fee is $25.00.

For a complete list of driver's license fees, click here.

Already have a Florida driver's license? Update your address with the DMV to avoid any unwelcome and expensive surprises.

If you're transferring a license from another state or country, you might get to skip the Drug and Alcohol courses, Knowledge exams, and driving tests.

However, the Vision and Hearing test is a must.

Oh, and don't forget to title and register your vehicle within ten days of moving and valid insurance.

With your Florida driver's license in hand, you're ready to explore every scenic corner of La Gorce Island and beyond — all while fully embracing your new tropical lifestyle!

Rocking the Boat with A Vote: Why Your Voice Matters on La Gorce Island

Still settling into your new La Gorce Island home without registering to vote? Time to fix that — because on this island, being #UnRegistered just doesn't fit the vibe!

You see, moving to a new neighborhood is already a big step, but without the power to vote, you're putting yourself on the sidelines instead of shaping the place you now call home.

And who wants to feel like an outsider in paradise?

So, if you're over 18, a United States citizen, and meet all the requirements, get your voter registration in order — submit your application online, by mail, or in person through the Florida Department of State or the Miami-Dade County Elections Department, online, by mail, or in person.

Proper identification is key, so prepare a valid photo ID with a signature, like a Florida Driver's License or U.S. Passport.

For a complete list of accepted IDs and any additional requirements, click here.

Don't just enjoy the island lifestyle — be a part of it.

Your voice matters, and every vote counts — even if you're already in paradise.

Living La Vida La Gorce: A Guide to an Eco-Friendly Island Living

Ready to keep La Gorce Island as stunning as the day you arrived?

Well then, it's time to roll up your sleeves and play your part in protecting the natural beauty of this slice of paradise.

A clean, green community starts with knowing and sticking to La Gorce Island's solid waste and recycling programs because, without proper care, those sparkling Biscayne Bay views could quickly lose their charm.

And who wants to risk that?

To give you an idea, check out the current trash and recycling schedules below, as advised by the City of Miami Beach Sanitation Division:

  • Residential Garbage Collection (twice a week)
  • Free recycling collection (Wednesdays)
  • "Bulky" trash collection (first weekend of the month or by appointment)

Failure to follow these waste management codes may result in a fine or arrest.

For detailed information about schedules and fees in your zone, visit the City of Miami Beach Sanitation Division website, the City of Miami Solid Waste Department, or check with your HOA.

By following these guidelines, you're not just protecting your island home but helping preserve La Gorce Island's lush beauty for years to come.
