Here are 7 things you need to do IMMEDIATELY when moving to Florida City.
(1)
Moving To The Suburbs: What Each Florida City Home Should Have
The suburban way of life isn't any different from city living apart from having more greens and less pollution, especially if you're moving to a Miami suburb like Florida City, so before your big move-in date, sort out your utilities to ensure maximum convenience during your transition!
Don't know where to start?
No need to panic —all you need is a stable internet connection, your IDs, and a few minutes of your time because setting up your electricity, natural gas, and water services in Florida City is as easy as 1, 2, 3!
For your electricity, create or log in to your existing account at the Florida Power & Light Company (FPL) website and apply for service at your new address.
If you're a new customer, you'll need to submit your Social Security, Driver's License, Social Insurance, or Tax ID number, the new service address, and the connection date, or if you're already an existing FPL customer, the disconnection date (old address), re-connection date, and complete service address will suffice.
A deposit of $25 (minimum) and other initial set-up fees may be charged upfront, whether you're a new or existing customer.
Meanwhile, check with TECO Peoples Gas or Florida City Gas (FCG) for your natural gas services!
Once you've confirmed service availability, submit the necessary IDs and connection date (new customer) or advise the disconnection date, the complete address of your new home, and your preferred service transfer date (existing customer).
Deposit fees may be based on your home's square footage or equal to twice the average monthly bill, and you may need to settle a connection fee before service connection.
To top it all off, check for water and sewer availability at your new address on the Miami-Dade Water & Sewer website.
New customers must create an online account and deposit $50 for water, $50 for sewer, and a non-refundable $45 connection fee, and existing owners must also settle any outstanding balance before service transfer.

Staying Connected In Miami's Outskirts: The Essentials Of A Modern Homeowner
Do you want to make your Florida City transition a hundred times better?
Feel like you never left the city with a premium internet connection and a binge-watch of your favorite TV shows!
Yes, peeps, living in the suburbs doesn't mean leaving your modern must-haves behind, including reliable internet and cable services, so before your Florida City move, check service providers like Comcast Xfinity and AT&T for the best internet-cable bundles!
Upon picking your provider and preferred package, apply for new service by submitting your complete address and proper IDs online or in person at the nearest store, or if you're an existing Comcast or AT&T customer, request for a service transfer as soon as you settle any remaining balance on your account!
You may have to settle deposits, activation/installation, and equipment rental fees upfront or see them on the first bill, so avoid any surprises by asking your provider!

Planting Your Florida Roots: The ID Every Floridian NEEDS
If you think moving to Florida is the final step to becoming an honorary Floridian, you've got another thing coming!
Before you can show off your new city, you'll have to PROVE that you're really from Florida!
And how do you do that, you ask?
By sealing the deal with a Florida driver's license — and STAT!
Yes, folks, a Florida driver's license is not only a REQUIREMENT within 30 days of establishing residency, but it's also the quickest Florida ID to get and your ticket to driving on Florida roads!
So, if you're moving from another country or state, visit the nearest Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DHSMV) or any local office offering driver's license services and apply for a driver's license by submitting the necessary documents.
Click on the applicable residency status to know which documents to have on hand when you apply:
The initial Florida Class E license, including a learner's permit, is $48.00, a commercial driver's license (Class A) is $75.00, and an ID Card fee is $25.00.
For a complete list of driver's license fees, click here.
Drivers with current or previous driver's licenses from another state, country, or jurisdiction may be allowed to forego mandatory Drug and Alcohol courses, the Class E Knowledge exam, and the Florida Driving test, but the Vision and Hearing test is still a MUST.
Meanwhile, if you already have a Florida driver's license, you'll still need to notify the DMV of your new address to get an updated driver's license.
Oh, and get insurance to title and register your vehicle(s), too, within ten (10) days of establishing residency, if you don't want to get in trouble with the law!

Joining The Train Of Success: Voting In Florida City
Are you moving to Florida City from a different country?
A legal-aged United States citizen who meets all the requirements but is STILL an unregistered voter?
If your answer is yes to any, don't forget to register to vote before you move into your new community!
To jumpstart your voter registration, submit your application with the proper IDs and documents through the Florida Department of State or the Miami-Dade County Elections Department online, by mail, or in person at the Elections Department or any Elections Branch office!
Just bring any current and valid identification with a photograph and signature (e.g., Florida Driver's License, United States passport, etc.), and you'll be approved in no time!
