A significant player in South Florida's academic, marine, and tourism industries, Dania Beach is Broward County's first city and a destination with endless opportunities!

The seaside city's boundaries are Fort Lauderdale to the north, Hollywood to the south, Hollywood and the Atlantic Ocean to the east, and Davie, along with the Hollywood Seminole Indian Reservation, to the west of the city.

It is also immediately south of the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, Port Everglades, and the Broward County Convention Center

Dania Beach has a total area of 8.3 sq mi, of which 0.27 sq mi is water

It is part of the South Florida metropolitan area and is highly regarded for its award-winning "Blue Wave Beaches."

It is home to 132,822  residents as of the latest US Census.

Although more minor than many of its neighboring cities, Dania Beach shouldn't be dismissed when you're looking to have fun under the sun-- and get some sand stuck down your shorts!

Yes, folks, Dania Beach is a beachgoer's dream destination! But aside from its gorgeous beaches and array of outdoor activities, the vibrant small beachfront town is also a prime location for shopping, dining, and entertainment

In fact, this seaside gem doesn't scrimp on choices when it comes to a day out in the town, whether on land, water, or both!

Nevertheless, as a city by the water, there's no doubt that the first place you need to check out when visiting Dania Beach (aside from Dania Beach Ocean Park, the center of the city's surf action) is its landmark for boatless fishing and unmatched ocean views, the Dania Beach Pier.

Situated on the Atlantic Ocean, the first thing you'll notice when visiting Dania Beach Pier is its 900-foot-long wooden pier that doubles as a fishing spot

It's also the best place to get a scenic view of the ocean or get a bite to eat after a long day of sightseeing, as Dania Beach Pier also features several restaurants along its length.

Another spot to visit by the water is the Dania Beach Marina, located on the east coast of Florida, in the heart of Dania Beach

It's the only full-service marina in town, offering everything from boat rentals in Miami and storage to marine supplies and bait

Dania Beach Marina is also where you can get your fishing license and tips to fish and have your kids run around at the playground, which is fully equipped with swings, slides, and a jungle gym.

For a dose of art, antique, and thrift shopping, drop by the Dania Beach Antique and Arts District, an impressive art and antique destination, where you'll see a variety of shops, galleries, and studios that offer everything from jewelry, blown glass, and crystal to furniture, housewares, and retro clothing

The downtown gem is where you can spend hours browsing and window shopping and, with little luck, find a unique keepsake or two to remind you of your trip.

Another must-visit Dania Beach shopping destination, and a new one, might I add, is the Dania Pointe, where you can unearth the best Dania Beach and Fort Lauderdale shopping with its array of trendy stores promising to suit every taste

The brand-new outdoor shopping enclave shines as the pinnacle of a modern lifestyle destination, featuring best-in-class retail, restaurants, entertainment, and events, complemented by two Marriott hotels and — coming soon — the global headquarters for Spirit Airlines! Safe to say, it's the newest spot to see and to be seen not just in Dania Beach but in all of Fort Lauderdale

Another great thing about Dania Beach is it has a few museums where you can discover, explore, and learn about the neighborhood.

The Wiener Museum of Decorative Arts is one of the two world-class museums in Dania Beach, and it's known to feature thousands of works from the world's most renowned ceramic and glass artists

In addition to a vast collection of 19th and 20th-century British pottery and porcelain from factories, such as Wedgwood, Minton, and Royal Doulton, The Wiener Museum of Decorative Arts displays works by contemporary ceramic artists from the UK, USA, and South Africa.

A spectacular collection of Dale Chihuly's work is exhibited in the Hot Glass gallery at The Wiener Museum of Decorative Arts.

The Holocaust Documentation & Education Center is another neighborhood museum, the first South Florida Holocaust Museum.

The site is a cultural gem for Broward County, having one of the largest collections of Holocaust artifacts and research materials, 2,500 eyewitness testimonies, 6,000-volume research and reference libraries, films, DVDs, photographs, and priceless Holocaust memorabilia.

These collections and exhibits attract visitors and scholars from all over the world.

Need more nature in your life? Aside from its array of on-the-water spots and activities, Dania Beach is also brimming with nature centers and parks

For one, the Secret Woods Nature Center on West State Road 84 was one of the first areas in the state to be designated as an urban wilderness area

The center, comprised of nearly 60 acres of cypress swamps, coastal mangroves, and beautiful tropical hammocks, is fun to explore and home to a wide array of unique plants and animals

You'll also see manatees at viewing areas along the trails and boardwalk that follow the river.

Dr. Von D. Mizell-Eula Johnson State Park is another famous Florida state park in the heart of Dania Beach. It is a sought-after spot for swimming, fishing, boating, hiking, bicycling, and picnicking, offering a haven where everyone can escape the hectic pace of the metropolis and reconnect with nature.

The park is also the last example of an undeveloped coastal ecosystem in Broward County

Are you looking for something unique and distinct to Dania Beach that you can do during your trip?

Try your hand at Jai Alai!

The Dania Jai Alai Fronton has been open since the early 1950s and is one of only a few remaining in the country

Here, you'll see lads clad in gloves and helmets hurling balls at super-high velocity with long, narrow baskets. It's an exhilarating sport to watch, making a baseball game seem about as fun as waiting for water to boil.

Meanwhile, for something to do at night, go to The Casino @ Dania Beach and get the slot machines going!

The casino offers hundreds of casino games, slot machines, and over a dozen poker tables

You can also check out the different performances and shows at the bar areas or go to the casino's dining areas when taking a break from gaming.

Pheww, so many places to see and things to do, so little time! What a wonder you are, Dania Beach!

Providing residents with a unique, small-town quality of living by maintaining its beautiful neighborhoods and vibrant commercial areas, underrated as it may seem, Dania Beach continues to stand out as one of the ideal places to live in Florida, especially for those who value nature and outdoor recreation.

You can say that Dania Beach has it all

Aside from a tight-knit community and effective highly-organized Commission-City Manager government, Dania Beach boasts an extensive recreation program that includes a beach and fishing pier, pools, tennis courts, neighborhood parks, and community centers that offer an array of programs for youth, adults, and senior citizens

The city also has a full range of municipal services, including a public safety program, essential street maintenance, roadway beautification, general service operations, and improvement projects.

But despite all of the amenities mentioned, it's only the beginning

The year 2022 is Dania Beach's time to shine, which means more amenities are bound to pop up daily, a step closer to achieving a live-work-play type city that offers opportunities to residents and also to small and large-scale businesses.

And when it comes to housing, Dania Beach uses the same progressive approach it takes to almost every decision they make.

The city currently has several new housing developments on the go, including the affordable housing City Place project and various mixed-use apartment complexes that promise visibility from the east, from the north, and from the south.

Indeed, a Broward County neighborhood that promises stability, comfort, diversity, and progress.

No doubt, there's no place to live like Dania Beach.

"A city with a plan" is a description I feel best describes Dania Beach.

Although the small beachfront town is Broward County's FIRST city, it doesn't come last in developments and improvements, achieving its rank as one of the top, progressive and modern neighborhoods in the area.

In fact, I'll go far as much by saying that this suburb may have it all-- prime real estate, nature, outdoor recreation, world-class amenities, dining & shopping, entertainment, and an ideal location.

An oldie but goodie ready to prove itself to Florida and the rest of the world!

Have everything you'll ever need at your fingertips--Dania Beach is a tiny but great city that is  "First in Broward and Second to None."
