An Ambitious Revitalization Is Set For Homestead!

Where: across Homestead

When: TBA

While everyone is planning for home gardens and summer vacations in Spring, Homestead is cooking up an ambitious revitalization, and the initial planning stage started last April 1-4 at Miami-Dade College's Homestead Campus!

The four simultaneous morning discussions, spearheaded by the City of Homestead's Design Team and Steering Committee through a Visioning Charette, centered on Downtown Krome, the Civic Center, Campbell Drive, and the Civic East District, giving residents, property owners, and business owners a chance to offer their suggestions and ideas on re-envisioning the said areas.

Among the suggestions are new student housing developments, retirement communities, and a density increase in Homestead's downtown area.

Different follow-up stages will occur over several months, so keep your eyes peeled for any developments, project proposals, and suggestions in the coming weeks!

Homestead's Latest Residential Development Is In The Pipeline — But Will It Be The Last?

Where: Palm Dr & SE 12th Ave, Homestead, FL 33035

When: TBA

Homestead will soon witness a new residential development rising at the intersection of East Palm Drive and Southeast 12th Avenue — and it's adding 296 townhome units to the local real estate market!

We're talking about Palm Cove Reserve, a 54-acre mixed-use project with spaces for residential and commercial developments.

Once completed, Palm Cove Reserve will offer a collection of two-story buildings with 296 townhomes with garages, 949 parking spaces, a clubhouse, a community pool, and an acre for open spaces and parks.

News on the grapevine is Palm Cove Reserve will probably be the last major townhome project in Homestead for a while, but, of course, nothing's set in stone.

Alongside this massive residential development, Homestead is anticipating an apartment building for affordable housing at 1350 Southwest 4th Street that will include 100 housing units on 4.2 acres, a 19,000-square-foot Dara Group development for warehousing and bottling facility at 212 SW 2nd Street, and a 10-acre, 51-home community at the south of SW 328 Street and west of SW 152nd Avenue by Lennar Homes.

What's Next For Downtown Homestead?

Where: 41 N. Krome Ave. Homestead, FL 33030

When: TBA

Locals are expecting exciting times ahead at Downtown Homestead, and it involves multiple developments within the Downtown area's transportation, residential, and retail sectors!

The items on the agenda?

Losner Park's expansion, a new Downtown food hall, and a Downtown Transit Center!

Yes, peeps, you read it right!

Losner Park is getting a huge makeover,  bound to transform the quaint pocket park into a world-class destination!

Designed by the architects behind the Beijing Olympic Games, the new Losner Park will pay tribute to Florida's ecosystem and our beloved national parks and will include a performance space, an Everglades garden, a children's area, and a veterans memorial.

Meanwhile, Homestead CRA is negotiating a contract with Society8 Hospitality Group for a new food hall in a building referred to as "Krome Marketplace."

Once completed, Krome Marketplace will have six kiosks staffed by experienced and well-regarded chefs, a common dining area, a brewery, and a section for an additional restaurant with a full dining room.

Lastly, Homestead Station will soon feature a Downtown Transit Center that will serve as a Central Trolley Hub and connect locals to surrounding neighborhoods in Miami-Dade, Broward, and Monroe Counties — in a flash!

Some of its key features are improved travel time, prepaid fare for efficient boarding, and real-time arrival information while shortening the commute to Dadeland Station by 30-40%

Exciting times, indeed!
