No New Skyscrapers, Just Better Weekends — Community Upgrades Around Virginia Gardens!
Where: Virginia Gardens, Miami Springs
When: 2025 and beyond
Quiet doesn't mean stagnant, and over the past year, Virginia Gardens and its immediate neighbors have been making thoughtful updates to enhance the everyday spaces residents use, from athletic fields to neighborhood courts just minutes away.
In Virginia Gardens, the Village announced a public meeting for September 2025 to discuss capital improvements to the Virginia Gardens Athletic Complex, marking the early stages of upgrading one of the community's most important recreational assets.
The Village is currently seeking a $200,000 state grant through the Florida Recreation Development Assistance Program to help fund these enhancements, which are expected to benefit local families, youth sports programs, and residents who rely on the complex for organized activities and casual outdoor use.
On the other side of its borders, Miami Springs completed renovations to its Tennis, Pickleball, and Racquetball Courts in late 2025, giving the Miami Springs Tennis Center a refreshed look and improved playability.
The upgraded courts have already seen enthusiastic use from the community, including many Virginia Gardens residents who frequent the facility, thanks to its proximity.
Improvements also extended to Prince Field, further solidifying the area's commitment to maintaining high-quality recreational infrastructure.

Small Town, Big Holiday Energy — Seasonal Events Bringing Virginia Gardens Together!
Where: Virginia Gardens, Miami Springs
When: December 2025
If there's one thing Virginia Gardens does especially well, it's planning community events that feel personal, familiar, and genuinely local.
In fact, kicking off the holiday season is the 2nd Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony held by Virginia Gardens on December 1, which drew residents alongside local leaders from Virginia Gardens and neighboring Miami Springs, as well as appearances from County Commissioner Natalie Corbis and State Senator Bryan Ávila.
At the heart of this celebration stood the village's towering Christmas tree, surrounded by festive decorations and a cheerful crowd—exactly the kind of moment that brings neighbors together.
Holiday cheer continues a few minutes away at Miami Springs, where an annual Holiday Golf Cart Parade returns on December 20, 2025.
A beloved tradition that reflects the area's shared community spirit, the yearly celebration features decorated carts rolling through town and residents lining the streets, including our very own Virginia Gardens locals!

A Big Question Mark on a Quiet Block — What's Next for the Optimist Club Site Near Virginia Gardens?
Where: Hammond Dr. & Wren Ave.
When: Happening Now
If you've driven past the Miami Springs–Virginia Gardens Optimist Club property lately and wondered what's going on with it, you’re not alone — because once again, the answer is: it depends.
The property, located at Hammond Drive and Wren Avenue, was previously slated for a four-home luxury residential development, but that plan has stalled, and in September 2025, the roughly 39,750-square-foot site was officially listed for $3.2 million, putting the future of the block back on the table.
What makes this site especially interesting is that the groundwork has already been laid.
The city approved the platting of the property into four single-family lots in 2024, and early renderings showed modern two-story homes projected to sell for $1.5 million or more each.
At its current price point, the land breaks down to roughly $800,000 per lot, which leaves plenty of room for a new buyer to either revive the original plan or take the site in a completely different direction.
For now, it's a waiting game — one that could eventually bring new high-end homes to the area, or something else entirely.
Either way, it's one of the more closely watched pieces of land near Virginia Gardens, especially for residents curious about what (or who) might be moving in next.

Get to Know Your NEXT Favorite Weekend Hangouts!
Where: Miami Springs
When: 2025
While Virginia Gardens itself hasn't turned into a hotspot overnight, the area outside village lines offers a few new shops that tell a different story!
The most noticeable one is the old Runway Inn, which reopened as the Atrium Hotel, now part of Wyndham's Trademark Collection (East Dr., Miami Springs).
Sold at auction for $7.75 million and reopened in late 2025 under new management, the Atrium Hotel is a significant shift for airport-area lodging, considering the building's past reputation.
Then, there's Aerialbatics, which opened its doors in December 2025 (1 S. Royal Poinciana Blvd., Miami Springs) — an acrobatics and fitness studio offering classes in aerial movement, flexibility, contortion, hand-balancing, and general fitness.
The circus-themed grand opening — yes, there was even a stilt-walker — made it clear this spot isn't your average gym.
Food-wise, there's good news for longtime locals — Harvest Moon Bistro is officially making a comeback after closing in 2023.
The café announced in August 2025 that it plans to reopen on Canal Street in downtown Miami Springs (Canal St., Miami Springs), and fans have been patiently waiting for familiar favorites — especially the Santa Fe wrap — to return.
And finally, the former Miami Subs Grill along LeJeune Road (LeJeune Rd., Miami Springs) has a new tenant, Talkin' Tacos, which is set to move in, following the property's $2.6 million sale in March 2025.
By November, plans for the taco spot were already in motion, bringing new life to a busy corner near the airport.
