A $1 Billion REINVENTION For Southland Mall Is In The Pipeline

It seems Southland Mall is getting ready for a MAJOR transformation as Electra Miami, a real estate private equity firm, along with its U.S.-affiliate, American Landmark, and BH Group, a Miami-based private real estate investment and development firm, unveils their preliminary plans for a $1 billion redevelopment hailed as one of the biggest projects of its kind in the Southeast!

Folks, you're looking at the new Southplace City Center, an 80-acre "city within a city" for living, working, shopping, and playing in Cutler Bay!

Deemed to complete over a seven-year time frame, Southplace City Center will feature more than 4,000 residential units, over 500,000 square feet of curated retail, and exciting dining and entertaining venues at the existing mall, with an additional 150,000 square feet of prime retail space and out parcels for food and beverage operators.

Southplace City Center will also include abundant green space, bike and golf cart trails, walking trails, a trolley system, and easy access to public transit, the soon-to-open Miami-Dade SMART Plan mass transit route adjacent to the property.

Oh, and it's expected to create approximately 2,700 new jobs and generate $44 million in property taxes ad valorem revenue in the first five years ($6.1 million to Cutler Bay) and up to $491 million ($75.2 million to Cutler Bay) over 20 years, too!

Safe to say, Cutler Bay's future is looking BRIGHTER than EVER, and we're all for it!

Cutler Bay Is Adding 113 Affordable Rental Units This Summer!

Searching for a low-cost home in Cutler Bay?

Thanks to the Preservation of Affordable Housing, a non-profit developer, you'll have 113 reasonably-priced apartment units at the end of the Summer season, also known as the Merdian Point at Goulds Station, a $52.7 million affordable housing project!

Said to be POAH's first in Florida, Merdian Point at Goulds Station will assist struggling renters who can't find housing, as 68 of the 113 units will receive Project-Based Rental Assistance through a Section 8 Housing payment contract.

Meanwhile, the remaining 45 units will be reserved for residents earning up to 80% of the area median income.

Aside from two residential buildings, one seven-story mid-rise, and a 33-unit garden tower, Meridian Point will include amenities such as a fitness room, community space, playgrounds, and access to public transportation, recreation, and retail!
