Morningside Park — REBORN?
Where: 750 NE 55th Ter, Miami, FL 33137
When: TBA
What's the latest on the Upper East Side's largest and most famous recreational spot, Morningside Park?
In 2019, former Miami District 2 Commissioner Ken Russell launched a four-part makeover for Morningside Park, which aimed to provide seashore stabilization, a new baywalk, revitalized green areas, ADA accessibility, Aquatic facility improvements, and drainage enhancements.
And now, it's the newly elected District 2 commissioner Damian Pardo's turn!
Although new revisions on the said project are still under review by FEMA, our sources reveal that Morningside Park may turn into a coastal AE zone.
The plan also suggests relocating the existing community pool, elevating an existing baywalk, and improving drainage along the coast — of course, nothing's set in stone (YET!).
Will we see a NEW and IMPROVED (and flood-free) Morningside Park in the coming months?

A 12-Year Mixed-Use Venture Moves Forward
Where: 5445-5501 Biscayne Blvd., Miami, FL 33137
When: TBA
Have you ever heard of Morningside Place?
If you're a longtime resident, you may have seen the announcement of Morningside Place, a planned retail and residential project comprised of two three-story buildings on adjacent vacant lots at 5445 and 5501 Biscayne Boulevard in 2019.
And while the site was approved in 2012, we've yet to see any developments about the 12-year mixed-use venture — until now!
Last January, a pedestrian bridge totaling 1,000 square feet was approved to rise over Northeast 55th Street off Biscayne Boulevard to facilitate Morningside Place's construction.
There have also been a few amendments in the proposal to address residents' concerns about the retail and commercial part of the development, including Morningside Place's planned rooftop music venue.
Once built, the highly anticipated destination will feature two MiMo-styled, three-story buildings with 24 residential units, 9,372 square feet of ground-floor retail, and 46 parking lot spaces.
Baby steps, ladies and gents, baby steps!
