What's new in Little Havana?

I've all the juicy "deets" for anyone who wants to know!

The "heart" of Miami's Cuban diaspora may be a "dot" on the map, yet it electrifies with personality, rich culture, and a distinctly Latin American flair, as seen through its Latin-inspired restaurants, bakeries, fruit stands, cigar shops, rum bars, art galleries, music venues, and bustling social and cultural hubs!

Now, your favorite tiny community adds more "flavor" to your experience with new affordable housing developments and dining spots, taking gigantic leaps toward a BIGGER and BETTER version of the one you've come to LOVE!

Are you ready for what's coming in Little Havana?

Here are 2 things new to watch for in Little Havana.

Four Communities Are Rising In Miami's Cuban Diaspora — And They're Targeting Homeowners On A Budget!

Where: across Little Havana

When: 2025 - 2027

Four new apartment communities are slated to join the tiny city of Little Havana in the next two years, and they promise to shake up the world of hopeful renters looking for an affordable home in Miami's Cuban diaspora!

And the developers?

The Related Group, Related Urban Developers, from the world-renowned Related Group's affordable housing division, and Astor Companies, a famous full-service real estate development firm!

Through a partnership with Miami-Dade County's Public Housing and Community Development, the Related Urban Developers presents two affordable housing communities, Robert King High and Paseo del Rio, which are part of the River Parc 22-acre master plan, one of the County's largest mixed-income redevelopments!

Robert King High (1405 NW 7th St.) rehabilitates a 315-unit elderly public housing building built in 1964 and will serve low-income seniors under the Department of Housing and Urban Development's (HUD) Rental Assistance Demonstration (RAD) program, while Paseo del Rio (1401 NW 7th St.) is a new 182-unit, seven-story building serving households at 30-percent, 60-percent and 80-percent area median income (AMI) and includes studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments!

Meanwhile, The Related Group is cooking up a 176-unit, mixed-income community called Gallery at Marti Park (450 SW Fifth St), which promises to add a touch of elegance and charm to Little Havana.

When it is completed in the fourth quarter of 2025, Gallery at Marti Park will offer a range of housing options for residents with varying needs and incomes, with half of the units leased at market rates and the other half reserved for individuals and families from various income brackets.

Gallery at Marti Park will also allocate a few units to low-income seniors under the esteemed Rental Assistance Demonstration program.

The last community joining Little Havana is Astor Companies' Havana Enclave (315 N.W. 27th Ave.), a multi-family development with 179 apartments and 1,866 square feet of retail in eight stories, with a construction budget set at $55 million.

According to sources, Havana Enclave rents will start at $1,985 for a studio, $2,323 for a one-bedroom unit, and $2,727 for a two-bedroom unit, and amenities will include a pool, a meeting room, a fitness center, and a business center.

And yes, all these exciting and affordable communities will be available to the public pretty soon!

The Little Havana Dining Scene Is Growing As It Welcomes A New Taco Stand And Miami's First Croqueta Bar!

Where: across Little Havana

When: Happening Now!

Are you looking for something to do this weekend?

Let go of your inhibitions and indulge in something new to the palate — I've got two exciting spots for you to try!

Say hello to The Taco Stand and Dos Croquetas, Little Havana's newest dining spot!

Introducing its second location in Little Havana's Calle Ocho, The Taco Stand (2063 SW 8th St.), housed in a 2,000-square-foot restaurant, is a Southern California Mexican concept known for its authentic taqueria experience, Tijuana-inspired fare, and exceptional service.

Meanwhile, Dos Croquetas (1555 SW 8th St.), Miami's first-ever Croqueta bar, opened a new location in Calle Ocho, where you can try two of their most popular choices — the 305 Croqueta (with picadillo, sweet plantains, and queso blanco) and the Medionoche Croqueta, its version of a Cuban sandwich, alongside unorthodox croqueta choices, drinks, and vegan options!

Needless to say, your weekends just got BUSIER and TASTIER!
